  • Help with X-terra 70 please

    Hi everyone.
I have a mate who has got a problem with his X-terra 70. He said that the screen has gone blank and it's making a crackling noise.
Has anyone had this sort of prob with thier 70 please. If so. What was the damage.
    Many thanks
    Ash

I wonder if that LCD has a high voltage supply? You should probably ask about this on the Findmall X-Terra forum.

      Hmmmmm....

don't know about specific x-terra 70 stuff, but if an lcd will start making crackling sound it's not good sign, even if you can still see numbers etc.
In your case gone blank and that's a clear sign something broke.

Now... could be different things, but most probable to me is that glass broke somewhere... you have pressure inside is changing when signals are applied to the lcd and then hear something ...due to pressure waves then interacting with external air...

If so, you need to replace screen, no dubt... or to send to service or something.

Sometimes I noticed too this behaviour on old and weak russian made lcds... man... what a sound from them... they become suddenly black and emitted that kind of noise... that was cause of bad manifacturing and quality control (absent) in such previous 1989 production.

Other times... I had blinking and random lcd activations during signals... cause glass broke at contacts only... so there was no internal failure.
That happened to me also with taiwan and chinese made lcds and many others.

The problem is that couldn't be so easy getting a working display I think... also you need skills to replace it , so maybe better asking for service I think.

      Kind regards,
      Max
