    Hi Kt, how are you?
i want to ask you about the md5008 detector.
    This detector has "SAT" mode?
I mean, if we place a target in frond of the coil ,then the signal will be fade out gradually, as the time pass ?
or the signal remains steady all the time? (true non motion detector)

    regards from <deleted for privacy>l
yes, MD-5008 has SAT and is the example of crystal clear real non-motion. although the md technology, you know this fact good, has refused from this method much time ago. if we place a target near coil the signal will remain constant unlimited time. you do not need to move the coil zig-zag sweeping like with American modern detectors.

    regards

      Non-Motion versus Motion metal detectors
The head of the more expensive Motion metal detectors has to be kept moving or scanning the ground in order to detect metal, the moment movement is stopped, detection stops. The big advantage of Motion metal detectors is that they allow more sophisticated metal detecting, are self tuning, offer better target analysis and are not affected as greatly by mineralised ground as non-motion metal detectors. Also, motion metal detectors usually achieve greater penetration and clearer discrimination.http://www.eurocosm.com/Application/...ectors-2GB.asp

Do you mean that on a MD5008 "... if we place a target near the coil, then the signal will be remain constant at unlimited time " ?

I mean that disc and all-metal modes of MD-5008 are working in real non-motion way. that is an RADICAL difference from modern conception, but is only an return to very oldie schematics like Magnum. this is why MD-5008 has very good depth, but strange tuning and maybe even discomfort.

then the MD5008 does not have SAT!

"..Some metal detectors are equipped with a feature called "Self Adjusting Threshold", or S.A.T., which gradually increases or decreases the audio output in an attempt to maintain a quiet but audible "threshold" sound. This helps to smooth out audio changes caused by the ground or inadequate ground balance. S.A.T. may be very rapid or very slow depending on the metal detector and how it's adjusted, but strictly speaking, S.A.T. implies a motion mode of operation. This is why you will hear certain metal detectors referred to as having a "True Non Motion" mode; meaning, of course, an All Metal mode without S.A.T."

you may add SAT. I do not see the problem. but if you are not DIY bolts and nuts guy... so SORRY, our dialog is empty and does not cost 2 american pennies.

I do not want the Sat mode.
Simply, I was confused from your answer, because "SAT" is opposite to non motion. Anyway ,i got my answer ,the 5008 is a true non motion detector.
                Many thanks for the info!

Bill, there is not sharp necessity of autotuning in md-5008. you can push the RESET at any time moment, you like and feel of.
let guru like Carl, Bob Sickler, Monte, Foster, etc. to tell you about SAT. this is NOT my matter and not my English to teach anyone here.

leaving you off at this point

Just 200 Euro isn't much money for such depth machine.

Just buy a new one like any else electronical products today
that are not worthy to repair if warranty time is over or
messing with this whole stuff isn't worth the deal.

What kind of prodigy? Is this a 220v jack attached?

btw. you have to solder the reset button directy onto the handle
if you can't lower the sensitivity to heavy mineralized ground.
