  • New Headache !!!

    A good friend send me the news;
New Headache for major manufacturers again coming from XP!
    Was'n das?
    Cell phone?
    Wireless from tail to head?!
    Small, pocket size, compact, funny!?
My recent anticipation seems become true!

      Looks like you predict it))))
Interesting is how this works on real test.

Here are some i Phone-metal detectors:

It was so obvious and easy to anticipate soon appearance of similar device.
We already have such technology available. Cell phone manufacturing technology (super small components, high density, multilayer pcb's).
So.. why not making metal detector using most advanced technology today?
I already mentioned that ...for example cell phone like N96 or similar only need good code and coil to be turned to splendid metal detector.
What's the story with this XP? Sagem?

Speaking of XP; i had chance to test XP Gold Maxx Power (18kHz) recently.
Deepest detector i ever saw! With only 22cm coil!!!
I can only imagine how it performs with larger coil!??
A distant friend reported me metal case find (45x50x35cm) at 2.5 meters depth!!! With some coil 38x31cm (or similar..i am not sure)...
What so special with XP's? I am not sure. I don't know right now...
          But i will find out!

Actually....come to think....we already had that technology for long time ago!
Hard disks! What are those? Nothing but most advanced "metal detectors" !!!

Call me crazy...but in the past i had ideas to more detailed examine hard disk controllers and somehow to try to take and use some stages from those..
So..certainly we had same technology from late '80.
Looks like we gonna reinvent the wheel again and again in the future!

It would be nice if somebody can point us to some older hard disc controller schematic. I tried to find on the internet detailed schematic - without success. What's interest me mostly is front end at those. Not new models but old ...Conner, WD, Seagate or similar from late '80. or early '90.

Why hard disc? Why not floppy disk?

Floppy disc has fine ferite layer and you do not need to sweep search head at 7000 RPM (which is electromehanical problem in first line and not electronical).

Projected to MD world domensions, HD signals are very strong and depth still very small, not much as 1 cm.

                  Spectra V3
Was'n das? Cell phone? New IPOD? Or....

How to service this? As time goes by; less job for us - servicers!

                  Let's trace this!

very nice, I too have recently tested a max gold, and is very good, this sure is better, there will have to start saving though certainly worth more than 1200 €, and have learned the story .... greetings

all together... you can choose any function by a jumper on the PCB.

Need proper schematic at least from one of those units, preferably much older model.

Yeah Nakky, now is White's move! Spectra looks like state of the art. Most probably it is most advanced and most powerful metal detector now, at this moment. But now is time to make it small and compact!
Nearest cell phone manufacturer there is Motorola. So... i would not be surprised if White's and Motorola join to mutual project - smallest metal detector on the world! White's can offer finished project and Motorola can do manufacturing! Dream team!
