Yes, pulse width is set by an Atmel micro. It is a very simple micro that just generates a few pulses, so if you know how to program you can replace it with your own.

Hi Carl.
May i also replace frequency and 1st delay (if it has and second delay) from the same chip???
Geo you are surprising me!? First; you choose PI instead Spectra!? No matter how advantage that PI could be - it is still only a PI. Spectra, other hand, tends to conquer the very first place over all IB's on market today, presents best possible choice! Yet you took other one? Second; you barely got that PI and already planing to destroy it!??
Wait for a while man! Give it month or two on testing, experimenting and walking with it on terrains! Do not mod it at once!
It is still fresh and never used, give it a life for a while...
Don't let to become "easy come - easy go" story....
Regards!
P.S.
Not my concern what you gonna do with your detector, i really don't mind, yet as colleague on this forum here i dare to share my thoughts...

Hi Ivica.
I can't tell you exactly here in forum.
I will tell with other words and you will understand!!!!
The TDI is a PI detector with discrimination (the discrimination that can have an PI machine), and it is good at heavy soils and at ceramics.....
Here is the magic word....
A lot of objects are down of ceramics....
My XLT and GTI2500 can't make anything.
Maybe TDI.....
Send me again your full mobile... i have a problem with the coil of my sovereign

Yes that makes some sense. But i guess Spectra can overcome that problem too? Or not?

Hi Ivica
I believe that spectra is a little up from the Explorer. I need something to make the difference at ceramics and stones. I am not sure about TDI but maybe.....
Also i will try later to change frequency and pulse width so to use big coil.
A PI with ground balance and discrimination will be the same or about the same with Lorenz.
"...Also i will try later to change frequency and pulse width so to use big coil..."
That could be good lead for White's team when projecting new model. Would be good to have fully digital PI machine with rich variety of adjustments, LCD, menus etc...etc..
I would expect from you detailed field test now. I have seen some short youtube movies. Looks interesting. Yet Spectra looks a bit more interesting.
What interests me mostly (at any model) is stability.
Regards!
Hi.
Today i received the TDI. It came with two coils (one 12" and one 7.5") and two rechargeable batteries 14.4V. As i saw the extra gift from Carl was the 7.5" coil and the second battery!!!!. I charged the battery and i tried it a little in my Lab because outside is raining some days ago.
TDI is a little strange machine when you turn the GB on. From the little time that i worked with it i saw that for every item you must make different adjustment , for example i try a copper English coin (i don't remember exactly) and i adjust the detector for full depth.... , when i try to locate a half euro (bronze) it need other adjusting....... It need some time to learn it. Sensitivity is very high, detection distance is very good.
But the best is the GB. I did not went out the lab for test but i have some ceramics that all the detectors detect them from 15cm very easy, and i tried them. Without GB TDI detect them from 10cm easy, but when i put the GB at 2 or 3 TDI detectd the ceramics from 2..3 cm only. This is what i wanted from the TDI With GB at 2..3 the sensitivity is lower about 30% but this is not big problem. With the VLF detectors had lower sensitivity with full GB and the ability to detect down the ceramics was small.
Anyway when the rain will stop i will test the TDI at farm and i will inform you. Carl, again a big THANKS for this excellent detector
