  • What is Advanced Pulse Induction?

    Hi experts,

Can you describe me the tech behind API? This is used for example Garrett's Infinium LS but I did not manage to find any technical paper about this approach.

Also I feel stupid because I was not able to locate the forum search that FAQ is talking about...

    Thanks,
    Markus

The forum search does not get enabled until you have made at least one post ..... and you have just done that! Try again. It should now be visible.

Advanced PI can mean just about anything. Multiple sampling per pulse, multi-pulse operation, bipolar pulsing, controlled slewing, TX sampling, and so on. Not sure what the Infinium does differently.

        Thanks for the answer.

I might be interested about buying Infinium and therefore eager about that advanced PI thing. On some marketing materials it is said to be there for increased ground balancing ability but it does not make sense to me why they call it that way if that is the case... Not to mention that when the non-motion based balancing does the trick already, what would be the point to increase already sufficient ability.

Well, on the other hand maybe I just keep to my old White's Surfmaster project and pack it watertight. It is Surfmaster actually just for the pcb part and it is been packed to some other vendors covers. Metloc is the brand. I have never heard of, do you recognize it? Said to be used as manhole locator by the municipal guys.

By the way here is a good quality circuitry of the machine:

I was thinking to adding the machine with something within my understanding. One mod I would like to test is manual frequency shift. Should be easy just by driving TCL555. Dunno whether it really helps with the search condition optimization but lets see. Second one could be pinpointing, bypassing the non-motion ground balancing. And couple of coils are on the list too.

By the way now i really see the search button. Thanks for the root cause explanation
