Hi, today i got a used Fisher TW-6 (pipe and cable detector, that is also a two box detector).
THe detector is working excellent on locating and tracing pipes and cables.
Now i will like to build the handle to make it work has a two box detector. The only problem is that i dont know how long this handle is.
Here is a picture of the detector.
    Any help will be apreciated.
By the way this detector is almost the same has Fisher Gemini 3
    Regards

I will measure the handle of my GeminiIII and i"ll write you.
But detector works with any length of the handle. For "small" objects is better to be shorter.....

Hi, I worked with Gemini III few years ago . it's a real waste of time as you will definitely hit any mineral concentration in ground and this is what I personally experienced frequently, with 100% signal strength.
no doubt you will get these.
about handle length; as if the more is for more surface coverage and as Geo mentioned for bigger targets that can be detected from great distances, the less is for help an accurate and better pinpoint.

        Thanks Geo and Michael
Geo, if is posible let me know distances for receiver screews that joins the handle, cause i saw that one female screew is shorter than the other. I place a aluminum bar over the rx box to figure out distances and then discover that i must place correct distances if i what my homemade handle to be place parallel to the rx box?

I also got that the handle is 48 inches long and i agree with you that long separation will enable big metals search.

Ok i will whait for your handle information and if you can place pictures or a sketch about constucction i will apreciate it.
        In advance, many thanks
        Nelson

Hi michael, well my first purpose with Fisher TW-6, is to find pipes and al so to be used has a two box MD.
Has you point out, this happends when you go everyware? i mean any kind of soil?
I ask this cause my deepers MD, in some high mineralised soils it gets alarm any time, but is good soils works excelent.

            Hi Nelson.
You are right.... 48" is the out distance. From one side there are two screws and from the other one. I will try to post a photo.

Thanks a lot Geo for nice pictures.
Now if is posible for you, can you take detail measures of distances show on the edited picture that i m forwarding to you?
Inadvance many thanks, cause this will let me aling the handle considering the diferent separation that exist ntw the two screews from the RX unit.
                Kind regards

Many thanks for your time and information Geo.
Now i will have to select the right tube for it, cause an aluminium shape like the original will be hard to find.
                    Thanks again and best regards

                        Hi Nelson,
Yes, in most kind of soils you will have false signals. in high-mineralized soils is worse; full signal. was really frustrating. probably Geo has experienced this.
our new MDs never get such false signals as easily as those kind of devices. especially with our unique PI (MDL)
we checked those locations that Gemini was detecting with 100% signal intensity, absolutely silent.

Yes , may be you are right and i agree that PI detectors like Delta Pulse for example, will do a much nice job than two boxes.
My TW-6 will be used mainly for pipes detection and this mode is doing a very nice performance
Instead of that i very curius to give a chance has a two box detector.
After i test it, i will let you know if i got the same problem has you whote.
                          Kind regards
