'50' typo nominal value is American standart (from USA that had been spreaded in Taiwan, China and Japan). in our part of world we have 47 and 51 and no 50. both 47 and 51pF will be OK. main rule in electronics is that the caps' voltage value has to be no less than power supply voltage plus some reserve. for /+8-8/=/16/ we have to choice 16+X, ie 20V and 25V caps. 50V and 200V will be OK.

        all the best

thought may be I have to add Tesoro's Golden Sabre Plus to the list according Monte's info.

Tesoro's Golden Sabre Plus. The Golden Sabre didn't have the dual tone. The Golden Sabre Plus had the dual-tone audio, like the Royal Sabre, and also operated at 15 kHz (Tesoro's info) which was the same as the King Cobra.

Just remember that you run the risk of damaging a detector and the value is almost zip.

I'd simply tweak the GB trimmer for the worst ground where you're likely to hunt, then go enjoy the King Cobra. I worked with a lot of King Cobras as a distributor, mainly working moderate to highly mineralized locations, and once I tweaked it (not TOO positive, just slightly) I NEVER had a problem.

              • GMT is working with a coil without capacitors inside, both on TX side and on RX side too. that is Tesoro type coil. I have no data on Whites 4b type, but thinking Whites always made coils with the capacitors inside. I do not suggest you, but you may open it and desolder the capacitors... 4b type has oldie 'omega' windings/balancing configuration IMO.

                  • looks nice! there is some SAT instability in ALL METALL mode, people write me in PM about, but I hope to search the trouble as soon as we will go to summer here.

                            • how could it be otherwise, no problems, the disc position metal detected, but only to a maximum of 5 cm (two ton),all metall position no metal perception, have the switch cable checked, all in order, would be a wonderful if times times what works directly

                              • what type you use Q1 and Q11 transistors? I see they are soldered inverted. main rule is all resistors have to be measured before to be soldered, even you are confident in its colour code.
