this i have to say is a good detector for starters.
easy to build and pcb can be buyed with preprogrammed chip
    its mighty sensitive and
    deep eaven with 4" coil
25-30 cm on coins with 9"" coil
    1.2 m med 40mmx40mm square coil

somone else have experince with it ?

    garys pulse

i had my goldpic 3 for 4-5 years ..testing all my mono coils on it
i say it take pretty mutch from me ,,never had a error on it,,has always worked since i build it.
other is gary pulse pi ..built 2 of them pulse 1 and 2

Nobody has ever done a working code for this pic micro, other than a code locked purchased chip from T.Hill the provider.the code will not dump from the chip as we all know.We need somebody experience in writing new code for this to suit,an make public?
Who will put their hand up an devote their time to make a successfull working code for all to use?anybody?

Hi, I have built one of this kit years ago but never got finished. Micro and display work fine. I made changes to triggering transistor, bigger battery pack and supply circuit. I have started building low resistance coil (less than 1 R).
I bought this kit to test the high power output driver. It looks like it will be possible to control max current for output transistor by varying duration of the triggering time. I know It is not practical to drive output with high current (due to battery usage) but I am looking for having that option under my switch. Do You have some experience in this matter?
          Regards,
          wam

no ,I havent spend much time to develop any further with construction or modification to my goldpic kits, they work ok.Just that on detector kits with a pic micro an no public hex files to suit,an modify in this area most gain could be made with better code to suit different spec wind of coils an such?Again one day? we may have a public file to play with?

i am so happy with my goldpic3 ,so i have orderd another goldpic from trevor,,recived it yesterday

stuarts pi at here at geotec forum is almoast the same detector..try edit that hex file

                        Mark Stuart microcontroller machine....

Now, I do not have any technical information or experience with this detector, but I was told it was a derivation of a Mark Stuart Microcontroller metal detector. I have the source code for the Mark Stuart machine, which uses an older Microchip chip, which is a 16C84 chip. You can use this source code to write an newer Microchip version, but remember, there are differences in older Microchip source code language and newer Microchip 628 chip language. But I provide it here for your study.... Keep in mind it can be the same source code, just "migrated" into newer Microchip chip technology, or he may have update and rewritten the source code, into a better metal detector. I do not know, and unless someone else knows for sure, it is for study purposes...

Well, cannot upload the file, must be too large or wrong file size, mine is a .rar with 142kb size. So cannot attach it. If you want it, send me your email address.
                        Enjoy.

Melbeta, the pdf file provided by Rov shows the PIC as a 16F84. But you mention a 628.

So is there now a newer version of the detector than the 3.01?

melbeta, the code you refer to is the one for the PI84+,Stuart clone.??
well this code in a 16F84a works after a fashion in a Stuart, although poorly, needs quite some work with the lines of instruction to make it workable, the parameters are unknown.
Now this code does Not work in the Goldpic, not in any fashion.Sorry many have been here an tried. The suggestion from others on occasion has been that it is Easy,But no results have ever been forthcoming even after years of speculation an suggestions.
The only successful coded Micros have come from T.Hill for his Goldpic,an Magenta for the Stuarts, respectively! an neither are interchangable.

Yes, that is so. And where I said Microchip 16F628, I looked wrong, it was another Microchip number, a 16F678, not a 16F628. Those cost a lot of money to have read when secured.
