Sorry - but it's definitely a dowsing gadget. There is a swinging arm inside the arc-shaped section that activates a buzzer. You can clearly see the swinging arm in the photo you posted.

It's the usual nonsense designed to fool the technically-challenged.

check Alibaba.com and globalsources.com for "metal detector". Some cracking Whites 3900 clones there, even down to Whites logo.

From dealing a LOT with the Chinese I can tell you that Minelabs PCB's are stuffed in China and some clones DO exist. You won't find them on any sites like those I've listed, but search and dig a little deeper and you will find them. I heard tell of a Sovereign clone. It WAS on globalsources for a while, then the company that "made" it disappeared. Plenty of Garrett copies around, but who'd want to copy something that....well..didn't work? (allegedly).

H He i saw that copy..Hmm. i asked the dealer about gpx4500f ,he said it's low frequency pulse induction...the signal is not complicated as the minleb gpx4500
                        .Hmmm

                          not VLF

Yes,GPX4500F is low frequency pulse induction underground metal, gold, and mineral detector

We wouldn't say it's just the same good as minelab gpx4500 ,but it's a fairly well functional gold hunter

                          it's actually made in china

there is 1 year factory warranty for this GPX4500F metal detector.

9.6kHz TX frequency, disc, and tone ID tells me it's VLF.

                                G'day,

I contacted the supplier for Australia (not located in Australia as claimed but in China) a while back and I was told the GPX4500F is a VLF.

Interesting that there is so much confusion over something which should be simple to determine. It looks as if we won't really know anything for certain until someone buys one and then posts here.

This thread got me thinking about the claims that have been commonly made by metal detector manufactures in the past. When Minelab brought out the SD2000 in 1995 the salesmen used to tell the punters that the SD2000 was not a Pulse Induction (PI) MD but was an entirely new technology. And the excuses would flow with one salesman telling me as he had been given a conducted tour of Minelabs manufacturing plant in Adelaide he therefore knew for sure the detector was not a PI MD. In New Zealand the Minelab salesmen used to have a memorised spiel they would give each punter who walked through the door enqiring about purchasing a detector, which made a great many claims including the claim that because New Zealand had highly mineralized soil the only suitable detector to purchase was a Minelab. When in fact New Zealand has the quietest (non-mineralized) ground anywhere in the world! And just recently I learnt Minelab have been telling the punters here in New Zealand that the best model of Minelab MD to buy thats most suitable for New Zealand ground conditions is not the GPX4500 but another model (can't remember exactly which one. But it is one of their PI models). I wonder what their reasoning is behind this as they probably still think New Zealand ground is highly mineralized. However ... this has probably always been the way of MD salesmen and probably always will be. Its all about buyer beware ... and asking the right questions on forums such as this before buying anything.

                                Regards,
                                Rob (RKC)
