Funfinder, why don't you grow up! Place some decent, repeatable tests on the forum and let others make up their own minds. I for one will NEVER buy the Jeohunter, only because of the way you are carrying on like this is some advanced alien technology! If you like the Johunter, great. Have some respect for others with intelligence!

      • Geohunter modification

        hi funfinder
        good new thx

but i have a problem for my Geohunter:

1-my Geohunter always detect cavity this is bad contruction or bad my use.....?
2-any modification to disable cavity detection ?
3-ineed to build big coil for detecting high depth like this coil:

          You misunderstand some objects:
"I am not carrying on some alien technology" because the Jeohunter is just a modern high power detector with up-to-date colordisplay but I have to defend this machine against extremly stupid, ridiculous and evil attacks. Those usually can stop people buying good stuff but I don't care what you do.

New tests will come this year after the snow was melted away in about 1-2 months. I will put stuff via an angle into the ground (mounted on wooden rod or something) so the surface directly above remains untouched.

And thx for the modification compliment, but I don't care if you call them professional.

btw. The Jeohunter even works great during winter time at almost freezing temperatures outside.

          @aventurier:
"Always Cavity" - did you set the ground balance correctly?
After switching on, when the Ground Balance Screen appears, just for a short test set the value to absolutly minimum: -201 by the minus button and after this press accept for saving.

Now even bricks or hotrocks should be recognized as "metal" and you should get no more cavity at all.
But usually the ground balance value should be around 0.

If you really want to built your own 1m coil instead just buying on I would open the plastic srews of the standard coil, check out the circuit there and rebuilt it, and next start to experiment with larger coil diameter, attaching the wires to the second circuit.

Or you get somewhere the original plan of that large coil or the windings info from somebody who has one and wants to open it for you.

The new package that includes the big coil costs 3750 Euros in Italy but if you can built your own 1m coil or you don't need one you can make a very good deal getting the "old" single version for just: 2200 Euro there:

          @all
If I get the chance this year I will compare the performance of the Jeohunter with the following stuff for gettin' the most perfect overview:
          - Minelab GPX5000 with 25'' coil
          - High Power (25 Volt -> 1000 Volt @ coil) P.I. System

Shure with those you can't detect cavity and PI seems to have big problems with false signals @ highly mineralized soil but I really want to know if P.I. really penetrates so much deeper with the same coil-diameter.

I think bricks (highly mineralized) are working well to simulate such ground conditions so soon I will make some "indoor through bricks test" with the Jeohunter and you can check how the results compare to other MDs or PI systems.

btw. I have the perfect idea for the ultimate Depth Detector:

It works with a mobile 220Volt generator (powered by gas) which is HUGE more energy than all those "small" battery-packs! Perhaps someone is here who has the knowledge how to work with such high voltage and can start some initial experiments.

          • High mineralized brick stones test!

Now it's proven the Jeohunter works very well even on extremly mineralized ground.

While cleaning finally the area I found already unintended an old 18cm rusty axe 40cm below bricks. The Jeohunter detected this one easily on just 70% sensitivity also from 50cm distance while the ACE250 with 9'' sniper-coil even couldn't detect it from 20cm through the bricks so first I thought it's a wrong signal but it wasn't!

Next cannonballs where tested. The 12cm diameter one was no problem @ 50cm depth (80% sensitivity), while the 7cm was easily detectable to around 35cm at 70% sens. After that a 3,7cm and 1 oz (31g) heavy pure silver coin was tested - the Jeohunter found it at 20cm with 90% sens. but it was almost the end of reach.

The ground balance all the time was at minus 100, which is slightly below the level of brick stones.

I tried to find all those objects also with my Blisstool 64LTC which really is a good detector but no chance, not even at lowest ground balance level. It detected bricks only like most of the usual motion VLFs will do, while P.I.s may find "aliens" in such an extremly highly mineralized area!

btw. I used different kind of bricks with different mineralisation and they weren't in stricly order, otherwise for shure I got even better results.

            Additional facts:
The Jeohunter has a 2-in-1 detection circuit and not just a plain motion VLF. It detects metal the same deep while the coil does not move which makes him much more stable.

And for it's huge power the weight isn't too heavy:
            Box: 1200 grams
            battery: 430 grams
            neckbag: 410 grams

            • Yesterday I've been searching again with the Jeohunter and I found interresting stuff, the smallest piece was 1,5 x 1,5cm and 1mm thin from some exploded round.

I searched @ 90% sensitivity and Ground Balance minus 150 which is most of the time the limit if you hold backpack with finds and shovel in your other hand because this large coil recognises much faster differences concerning ground, distance to the ground and distance to your body and your own metal objects nearby.

Searching with 100% is possible but the area has to be flat, the movement slow and you shouldn't have alot own metal nearby. I like to search very fast so at flat regions 90% sens is the limit and in the woods with much scrub 80%.

The reset button method of the Jeohunter is a fantastic solution because it "fixes" the signalisation area to every situation you like:

You even can put a huge metal piece near the coil, press the reset button and the detector remains silent as long as you don't move away this object or put some second metal object near. This technic makes it possible "zeroing-out" even the strongest metal- or mineralic sourounding conditions while most metal detectors have no chance to ignore such!

This leads us back to my new brick-stone tests and for better imagination I will show you some pix I made of the cannon-ball test. And if you have some lose mineralic bricks or roof tiles at home try it with your detector and you will see if it will find metal beyond them or not or only if the mineralic layer is just a few cm or inches.

And directly now I'll go to a near wood 'cause last year I buried some 12cm diameter Alu-Ball exactly where before was the cannonball you see below and I will test if the very sensitive Blisstool LTC64 v1 also can find it. It's 50cm deep and in air it's no problem, but I wanna test it under real conditions.

              • No wonder some guys who did test the Jeohunter just for a short while and under semi-professional conditions came to wrong conclusions - 'cause even I found out all the secrets after a long time.

But first a technical question to the electronic-gurus here:

The Jeohunter can detect if a metal is out of iron or not WITHOUT any motion! How can you explain this??? And btw. afaik it does not use a secondary magnetometer like some P.I.s.

                Back to my new tests:
I found out how you can get around 70% more depth if you're looking for certain metal! The trick is:
The sensitivity to iron is much higher at a very low ground balance level (minus 150) while for silver as example if a very high value (plus 150) is used.

At minus 150 a little iron-copper alloy coin was better detected than a large silver dollar, that's why I found this out.

                And, very important:
The highest detection range (especially for smaller stuff) covers only the inner 2/3 "vertical" line of the coil. But at this region is almost no difference in depth so always overlap the sweeps around 1/3.

Plus: The difference in sensitivity between 90% and 100% also for little things is not just 10%, but much more - around 25-30%. But at 100% the coil reacts very fast on body movement and nearby metal, differences of the ground so the search has to be done much more careful.

With this settings I found a 2cm coin at 25cm and a 4cm at 45cm in air. The smallest thingy was around 5mm at 10cm.

And finally a small note about my new alu cannon-ball test:
The Blisstool did found it but it was hairy - 10cm deeper or some little bushes there and it would have been missed, while the Jeohunter recognised it even at 70% sensitivity. I hope with this new info you also will get better search results and good luck to everyone!

                • Here you can see the Jeohunter Accu fresh opened:

It uses 8 pieces of 3,7v Lithium-Ion cells which holds 2000mAh.
Two times 4 are connected in series so fully charged you have a total of 14,8v at 4000mAh.
Some of these cells where deep discharged by my own fault but I've 2 additional packs so it's no problem. The brand new ones use Lithium-Polymer containing the same power.
Perhaps now I remove the 4 most weak batteries so I still have a working lightweight 2000mAh pack or remove the jack or something.

ps: always be careful if you work with lithium-ion cells.

Funfinder, you mentioned a web site somewhere in Austria. Can't seem to email you for it. Also, on the edge of buying the cheaper Geotech model. Am i right in assuming this model is just a geo hunter without the depth, bells and whistles?...........bill

Could you compare in some way the GeoHunter 3d Dual with the next products, prices may be the biggest difference, but I'm standing in the point of view of real and professional equipment.

Since autumn 2010 the austrian shop only sells Nokta deep detectors and also the german
reseller quit. www.jeohunter.eu leads to a shop in Italy which has a good price for the old
model (and the new 3 coil edition) which is the same good as the Jeoscan 2D (see below).

                        @hunter123
You are very lucky 'cause I had a lot to do and wasn't here for over 2 weeks:

I haven't tested those mentioned OKM products at all that's why it's not an easy task
to compare them. Some of them are very expensive and probably only working for
very large deep targets. But the Jeohunter finds also coins and very small stuff.

                        here:
                        http://www.metaldetector.cc/index.as...OD&ProdID=1199

you can save 500 dollars if you don't need the very large coil. It has the same depth
as the Jeohunter with standard coil! But it may support an later bought large coil, too.

btw. this year Macrodedektör celebrates its 25th anniversary!

                        _________________________________________

                        The li-ion batterie-resurrection was successful, 2h of Jeo power @ 14.8v, 2000mAh.
Every single cell can be charged directly but I'd need now a better charger / balancer.
If charged with the original loader I can get around 1,5h, not much difference, though.

The treasure hunting season now is starting and I'll keep you informed...

                          • I'm considering on buying a Jeosonar or Jeohunter. I need to detect a 7in diameter silver or gold plate about 7feet deep. Is it capable? What are some good inexpensive brands which can guaranty this capability? I want to stay under $3500 if possible.

You could ask Moe DiPinto or one of his technical advisors there - they sell this unit.
I guess it's real powerful for "smaller stuff" within the middle range of depth.

                              @ aarone
                              > I need to detect a 7in diameter silver or gold plate about 7feet deep. Is it capable?

I guess not. You may detect an 8 inch plate until 4,6 feet with the Jeo 3D using 1m coil under good ground conditions (dry soil, low mineralized, no big rocks on the ground etc.) but 7inch at 7feet won't work.

Pls tell me If you find info what detector can do this.

                              Jeohunter update:
Until now in this year I've been "jeohunting" around 14 times (5-10h per day).

Results were very good so far:

7 horseshoes, 1 little cannonball, 3 spots where huge cannonball granades hit the ground (with 4-8 shards there), horseshoe-hammer with nails, 3 little bells for cows or goats, large iron chain, 5 old knifes, 1 little key and alot other stuff (per day around 50 items)!

But this was only possible by searching through a very large area with the Jeohunter in combination with the whirlwind search-method!

You can't sweep through a football or soccer field with a 12inch coil - it would take ages. And the places I'm "jeo-scanning" are much bigger than that - those are large woods with little fields here and there.

Most of the time I'm searching at 80% sensitivity because the ground is very uneven with grass, bushes, little hills, wood, stones and stuff.

This year I put some piece of foamrubber around the handle of the coil-holder which makes it much more comfortabe - I really can recommend this. And yesterday I made the coil waterproofed so I also can search in small rivers, lakes or while it rains (inclusive plastic bag covering the electronic unit).

As powerful pinpointer I'm using the modified Ace250 with sniper coil and solarcell-battery:
                              http://www.geotech1.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17537

This is important because of the big Jeohunter coil and for finding additional stuff in the search-holes. I even found a 4mm metal piece in the middle of the woods with this combi!

And I found out that ground balance really is important, but not so much concerning the ground, but what kind of metal you're searching for!!!
As example - at ground balance -minus 150 a huge silver coin no longer gets detected at all while the detector is super sensitive to small or deeply buried rusty iron stuff! At ground balance plus 150 you get the silver coin already at 40cm (over 1inch) while little iron or steel objects losing around 1/3 of recognition.

So the most sensitivity ground balance values (in air tests) are:
rusty iron: minus 150 to minus 100
                              steel: minus 50 to zero
                              gold: zero to plus 70
copper and alloys: plus 50 to plus 120
aluminium: plus 80 to plus 150
silver: plus 120 to plus 200

I haven't tested so far how this is affected by different ground conditions but I'm shure you shouldn't input minus 150 as "optimal ground balance value" if you're searching for silver and gold objects! It could or will reduce the sensitivity for this kind of metal from 60-100%!

btw. this whole ground balancing is sometimes "useless" anyway: because it seems for sensitivity raising the coil isn't shielded at all so it reacts heavily on wet grass and "ground effect". Getting the detector "quiet" while moving the coil from 5-30cm above the ground at high sensitivity settings is almost impossible the more the ground is wet or strong mineralized. Lifting the coil just 5cm above the ground while searching at 5cm results in a signal at high sens under wet or high mineralic soil conditions.

Neverthless - most of the time you can search at 80-90% sensitivity at 5cm above the ground if there's no wet grass or extremly mineralized soil - but keep in mind what you're looking for! Setting the ground balance to as example minus 100 you can "zero out" even brickstone-hotrock style mineralized ground and detecting objects but you could lose silver sensitivity. If you're searching for old iron or steel objects you will even gain some sensitivity with this but it's really not recommended if you wanna find gold or silver stuff. In that second case I recommend a ground balance from maximum minus 50 to plus 50 on high mineralized soil and from plus 50 to 200 under low mineralized conditions. If you're looking for real valuable large gold and silver stuff setting the ground balance instead of usual zero to plus 150 can give you around 50% more depth / sensitivity! Hope this new info will help you getting even more depth and treasures!

Well guys, it's sunday afternoon, the weather is ok so guess what I'm gonna do now...

                              • Will Jeohunter work on the beach?

                                Hello,

I'm new to the site and have read many post you have put up.

Do you know if the Jeohunter will work on the beach?

I'm told no because of the damp/wet sand salts.

But they advertise people using it on the beach and like always you can't find a single review on major search engines like Google.

Knokta Goldking promised the world and won't work on beach and this appears to me to just be a cleaner "looking" Knokta.

                                Thanks,

                                JP
