      • LiPo charging

        Hi geo-i,

        without matching li-ion loader it's a bit dangerous -
you should need experience with this kind of stuff.

It is possible to load LiPo (Li-Ion) cells with a stabilized
laboratory net-adapter but I would not recommend the
        adapter you have.

You can try but it is really your own risk:

        Very important:

Do this at a place with concrete ground or other not inflamable stuff!
        Garage room, outside etc.

How it works - listen very carefully:

Each 3.7v liion cell needs 4.2volt of charging power.

Your AC adapter can provide this - so it is possible.
but you have to do this manually and with a stop-watch-timer.

Connecting 4 cells in series = 16,8v of charging power.

Now important is the current (Ampere per Hour) you push into
those cells. Usually such cells have to be loaded at 1C.

If the cell has 2000mAh = 2Ampere per hour you can push
        a current of 2amps ( = 2000milli Amps) into those cells -
BUT ONLY FOR ONE HOUR !!!!
After this you have to disconnect your adapter immediatly.

Because you dont have a stabilized laboratory adapter
which limits the current if the cell reaches the internal loading
        current limit.

Your Cliptec loader provides 4.5Ah. This works but as a secondary
precaution you have to load all 8 cells at the same time.

You have to use the 8 UltraFire cells because the green Jeohunter
cells are damaged. First every cell must have the same state of charge
        (empty or half empty)

Connect your 8 UltraFire's in this way:

        __-- -[- 3.7liion +]-[- 3.7liion +]-[- 3.7liion +]-[- 3.7liion +]-+__
        ....-- -[- 3.7liion +]-[- 3.7liion +]-[- 3.7liion +]-[- 3.7liion +]-+

Set the CLiPtec to 16V or as a precaution to 15V
Switch the power of the CLiPtec to ON.

Connect the charging wires of the CLiPtec with the battery-pack.

        IMPORTANT:
        POLARITY!!!!

Connect plus with plus and minus with minus/ground/mass.

You really have to know exactly which one's the plus pole of the CLiPtec
        loading wires or connector!!!!

        IMPORTANT:
        TIMING!!!!

Those UltraFires have 3000mA so theoretically you can load
them with your Cliptec for ca. 1hour plus 20minutes.
But ONLY if those are empty!!!!

        BEST IDEA:
At the first time load those UltraFires only for 30minutes.

After this connect the battery pack with the Jeohunter.
Switch it on and leave it to on until the battery empty alert!
NEVER miss this alert or your battery-pack will deep-deplete!!!

NOW you are shure the battery-pack has reached it's low level and
you can load it - for 1 hour only!!!!!

If you forgot the battery pack and it loads and loads
after at least 2-3 hours the batteries will blow!!!
So REALLLY DONT FORGET to cut off the charging wires of
        the CLiPtec after 1 HOUR!

We don't want that you blow yourself!!!!

Now if you connect this "almost fully" loaded accu-pack
with the Jeohunter at the beginning screen you will see
how fully those are charged - perhaps you will read 80%.

        BE CAREFUL!!!!

ALWAYS check out first with the Jeohunter how full the
battery pack is loaded!!!! If the battery pack is at 80%
DONT load it 1 hour because this would overload it !!!

After a while you may get routine and be used
but still be VERY Careful! And every 5minutes
check out by hand if the temperature of the cells is normal!
Only a slightly amount of warm is OK - if one of the
cells is going HOT disconnect the loader immediatly.

        Technical data:
        ClipTec 4,5A loading current @ 15 (for safety) to16 (= better) Volts

Akku pack 2 x four 3.7v li-ion UltraFire cells 3000 mAh (in series)
= 14.8 volts power pack with 6000mA current storage

= loading at ca. 1,2C for max. 1h20min

Good luck and don't make any mistakes!!!

Please show us pictures how you have connected the
8 UltraFire cells and a picture of the CLiPtec connector.

Happy Xmas 'n good luck in 2012 everyone!

            @ geo-i
How you're doing? Still alive? Accu-pack works?

btw. perhaps there is another interesting option for ya:

Visit the next Do it yourself-market and get a battery drill.
            It should use a 4 x 3,7v li-ion pack with at least 2000 mA.

Now - all you have to do is to create a matching connector
so you can use this pack also together with the Jeohunter.

2 months ago I built such a pack for another detector
and the accu-drill is still usable with it. I had some
USB - plugs so I used these. However this special
USB is for power source out 11,1 volts only and
it uses extra contacts for the charging-station.

my friend i have bad news with my accu-pack it do not work very
well bro i think want to give over the accu-pack and tried your
accu-driil experiment that you give .i hope it can work and pray
              for me thank .

              • Hi geo-i

cool that you can use the new accu-drill info.

You will find a way to power the Jeohunter, some possibilities are:

                - order original loader and 1 or 2 accu-packs from makro group
                - get a usual lithium loader that supports your UltraFire cells
                - use the still good working accu-pack of a (old) laptop!
                - get some tools like battery-drill that uses big energy packs

It depends how much time you want to search:

                The original Jeohunter accu-pack has 4000mAh (@ 14,8v)
and you can search 6h (you can get more time if you switch
off the detector while digging) or even 9h if you search
with the switch LCD screen light off mod (see below) -
simple adding a switch to the most right black cable.

                It's better you have a reserve-pack, too.

If the battery-drill info says it has 2000mA it may have just
1800mA for real which would be just around 3-4h searchtime.

So perhaps the really best solution for you is to buy
a li-ion-charger which can load the already given combination
of 2 times 4 cells directly:

                __-- -[- 3.7liion +]-[- 3.7liion +]-[- 3.7liion +]-[- 3.7liion +]-+__
                ....-- -[- 3.7liion +]-[- 3.7liion +]-[- 3.7liion +]-[- 3.7liion +]-+

You will have much longer search time if you buy a second
set of 8 UltraFires 3000mA and a matching loader !!!

Such a pack would have in total 6000mA @ 14.8v and
a search time of 9h or even 13,5h with the LCD mod!

And if you have 2 such power packs you can search for
2 whole days without any charging!

There is not much difference in price if you buy a
                battery-drill with really powerful accu-pack or a liion-charger
with a second set of 3000mA lithium ion or li-polymer cells.

Also keep in mind how you want to attach the battery-pack
to the Jeohunter. 8 UltraFires could fit into the original place.

                And don't forget:
Please show us pictures how you have connected the accu stuff.

                • btw you also could use Radio control
battery packs instead of single cells!

                  google for:
                  rc 4000mA pack 14.8
                  or
                  rc 5000mA pack 14.8
                  rc 10000mA pack 14.8

                    • 1m coil test

                      Jeohunter 60x100cm coil -
everything @ iron on & ground balance 0:

                      aluminium-toolbox 45x35cm; 90% sens. ca. 1m75
                      100% sens. ca. 2m10

                      sheetmetal-dustpan 20x20cm:
                      100% sens. ca. 1m35
                      90% sens. ca. 1m10

                      silver dollar 3.8cm @ 100%: ca 35cm-40cm
in front of the coils edge (see below) 30 cm

                      canned tuna 8.5cm: 100% ca. 75cm
                      90% sens. ca. 65cm
in front of the coils edge (see below) 50 cm

                      Conclusions:
Bette depth improvements compared with the 35x45cm standard coil starts @ 15cm diameter and above sized objects.

3.8cm one fine ounce silver dollar detectable at nearly 40cm!
This means you even will find usual coins with this 1m coin @ around 10-15cm depth!

Super depth results which will be better as with the standard coil for objects with 30cm in size and deeper than 2meters!

For everything else the standard coil is the first choice.

Not comparable with PI. The PI must use very few windings for short pulses (building up and break down of EM-field plus signal analysing time), otherwise very slow recovery speed and very few windings means very low inductivity that can cause alot trouble, picks up radio interference and gets problems with hotrocks and discrimination.

However this coil has 2 belts at the smaller ends so 2 persons are needed, if there is no slide or little scooter with plastic-wheels.

Perhaps I will mount that coil on a very old full-plastic snowboard for making some real tests in 2012 outside at some snowy fields.

                          Hi geo-i, my friend,

in which country you are living? maybe you can visit Turkey and
Makro Group or you get such a 1m coil used for the half money.

For you first 1 or 2 good working accu-packs have priority and you
know that you can detect over 3m deep with your standard coil!

For the 1m coil better have second person and a mini-excavator!
