  • Jeohunter 3D Manual

    Hi syed ayub basha,

the 'effect parameters' are special values to calculate
depth, the type of metal and / or if it's cavity.

    - magnetical: iron, not iron (perhaps also paramagnetic, diamagnetic)
    - frequency: eddy currents or frequency shift
    - mineral: ground elimination and cavity detecton
    - electric: conductivity
    - mix & carbon effect: i guess this is an industrial secret

For you very important is the below cavity screen!
What you have to look for is a very weak cavity
signal but this signal must have some
    lenght and a geometrical shape.

And please first read the attached manual. Good Luck!

    • Hi geo-i

if we're lucky now we are very close to success!

      So attention and concentration please.
Because you won't destroy the Jeohunter
      by another mistake.

Very good the accu-pack is OK again. Well done!

The vertical board is the PCB shown on the picture below.
Just take a closer look so we know nothing was burned.

And you can see the variable resistor connection in "real".

But you need 20cm wires and solder a 470 Ohm
resistor in line, between the cable and the resistor:

This is a simple sketch of the correct connection:

      -------470 Ohm resistor------18cm isolated wire------> jeohunter board
      |
      |
      ---------------------
      | variable resistor |
      ---------------------
      |
      |
      --------------------------------20cm isolated wire------> jeohunter board

After this attach everything the right way and carefully.
Next we are ready for the tests. Good luck.

hello my best friend funfinder thank you
very much for your help I will carefully
do the best I can my friend I hope
the joehunters will back to normal
        thank bro.

hello my friend fufinder I have already finish the
470ohm resistors bro but nothing happen just only
repetitive click sound and white blink sound , bro
am I doing the the right thing because all the connection
you give is good is 51ohm resistors and 5.0hm resistors
should be change as well because I already change it
what is your opinion ? friend thanks.

              • Hi geo-i

sorry to hear about the problems.

Have you tested before the variable resistor really works?

Do you can get any difference while turning the variable resistor?

OK, you may change the outside 470 Ohm by 220 (red-red-brown-gold)
Or do you already changed it to 5 and 50 Ohm without success?
The white screen is the background-light without any picture.

But this is a good sign that at least the screen now is stable.
And the power providing / dividing circuit is working.

Do you get the melody while turing the Jeohunter to ON?

Do you have connected the coil cable?!!! You must connect it.

Can you get some beeps after you are pressing the reset or accept button?

                And before I forget:
Do you know what was the accu-pack mistake?
either it was wrong polarity or it was double voltage (29,6 V).

                First try a basic test:
geo-i: Connect the coil, swich the Jeohunter to ON,
wait for a half minute and test if the detector will
detect metal before or after you have pressed the
                reset button.

Because first comes the Ground Balance and here
the Jeohunter already is sensitive to metal and cavity.

IF YES, you are lucky and are able to search at least
                without display.

You can set the needed values "blind" with my help
but first we need to know if the Jeohunter is still
able to detect metal at all.

I hope you have connected all the cables the right way.

If you have pictures of the 2 isolated 20cm wires
you can show them (from the soldering area).

                • blink screen

hello friend fun finder I do not test the variable before turning
the joehunters and I do not get any differennce bro while
truning the variable resistor just only blink screen and the
light lcd inside the box just do same blink to,not get any melody
while turning and I not change the 5 and 5ohm resistor just
change the same in the orginal like in the ciruit board 512 and 513
resistor get from the shop, the polarity of the double volt is 15.66v
before charges .ok my friend i hope you guide me and help thanks.

                  • Hi my friend, all our efforts seems to lead to nowhere.

If there is no more correct melody in the beginning,
no more usual beeps, no more picture on the display
something real serious has been damaged.

                    At your picture:
Is this a new digital potentiometer chip or is it the
                    old one cleaned?
If it's the burned one now you can carefully remove it
                    and test again.
Perhaps this chip causes some shortcut and if removed
                    this problem would be solved.

If we are lucky this is the last simple repair chance.

Please try this first, remove carefully this chip but
don't rip off the isolated wires while doing this.

After this the same test series:
potentiometer with 470 Ohm resistor in line
if this doesn't work with 220 Ohm and at least
                    without additional resistor.

Don't give up hope, it could work or it could not.

If this also should not work:

You may get an used Jeohunter mainboard at a really
very low price especially if you are the one who
incorporates it by himself into the Jeohunter.

You are already trained to do this without a high
risk of damaging something so it's no big problem.

I know Makro Detector has replacement boards
and perhaps you even could get one for free if
you would order one or two accu-packs that you
                    would need anyway!

No sending boxes around, no work for Makro-Group,
no long time to wait and really good working accus.

You even may pay the board directly if UPS or
some other delivering service brings the parcel
                    to your home.

Give makro detector a call or send a mail, tell 'em
honestly that your homebrew accu-pack destroyed the
mainboard and ask what it would cost if they would
send you an used mainboard - important:
for the old Jeohunter 3D model! - and with 1 or 2
(perhaps also used) accu-packs. I'm shure they
will be very accomodating and help you out.

You may pay 200-500 dollars but this is nothing
compared to a new Jeohunter or if you would have
to pay for very expensive repair costs. And then
you would have 1 or 2 great working accu-packs
and by the way: you really should order also an
original accu-charger (doesn't cost you much).

You have to see this mistake from it's positive
side and make the best out of that situation.

Sometimes repairing such stuff is possible,
sometimes not. Some have enough experience
to modchip their consoles, some destroy it.

At least you learned alot and it would be much
more frustrating if an electronical devices stops
working and you have done nothing -
like it's the case with DVD- and Laserwriter-stuff
                    and many others.

I know a person that only just stumbled a bit while
treasurehunting and ruined his 2000 dollar machine!
THIS is really frustrating, believe me, this is the hell!

So try this final test first (remove the burned digital
potentiometer IC) and if it still not working contact
makro detector directly @ Istanbul / Turkey and
I'm pretty shure very soon everything will be
OK again and perhaps better than before!

                          • Hi geo-i

today also had some trouble - because of the arctic temperatures in Europe my water supply was frozen so first time in life I had to melt snow - really crazy! But I managed to repair everything. *phew*

geo-i, have you done now the variable resistor tests without this chip? Because the pictures shows that at least 1 of the isolated wires is missing!

Show me a picture where the circuit board is broken?

The circuit board is very stable and would not break if you remove a tiny chip.

Perhaps some of the contacts are "broken" - but not really.

"Seeing no burns" means nothing. Usually you cannot see anything if an IC or chip burns!

But we know it for shure this certain chip was heavily burned and I guess alot stuff, too.

So what do you wanna do now, if the final tests also won't work?

Perhaps you will find some online shop where you can buy such digital potentiometer chip of the same type but be warned:

This costs you money, alot of time and after all those tests I'm pretty shure some other chips - not findable ones - have been destroyed, too.

If you're shure that you can replace a working mainboard you should do what I told you (contacting Makro Detector) and perhaps you should order a vertical board too, because it could be this also got damaged

                            OR:

If you wanna have it the safe way you have to send your box to turkey.

                            (OR)

You may find someone who gives you some money for the broken Jeohunter so a new one costs you less or a different metal detector costs you nothing.
