G'day,
The "Elcometer P500 Imp Box Locator" metal detector
http://www.elcometer.com/internation...pages/P500.htm
claims in its advertising that it is a detector with "A strong focussed search field (that) ensures the accurate location of objects close to metal fencing and vehicles".

If anyone here can provide an answer, I would like to know how this is achieved technically. Obviously it must have something to do with how the coil is designed and all I can think of is that it might simply be a conventional DD coil.
It could also possibly be bogus advertising claims ... but if it could be done then I would think that its a technical improvement that should be employed by manufactures such as Whites on many of their detectors (especially on coin hunting MDs).
Regards,
Rob (RKC)
