Hi everyone,
Hope anyone can help me with a trouble I am having with the Garrett's Eagle Eye.
About 2 months ago I started having a random strange behavior of my GTI 2500 when using the depth multiplier. Sometimes started beeping randomly and when pinpointing, it gave an overload signal, like having metal near the front coil, this overloading signal kept sounding even when raising the front coil up and away from any metal and ground. After a couple of days the detector (and the coil) behaved normaly and nothing happened. I switched eagle eye with a friend of mine who has the same detector, and the eagle eye malfunctioned in my friend's machine, while his eagle eye worked fine in mine.
I recently discovered that when working under direct sunlight, the eagle eye went crazy, but when letting it cool inside the house it worked fine. I tried several times and each time the coil was hot for sunlight it beeped overload. Yesterday an engineer from Brazil told me that it may be a weak capacitor inside the coil. He asked me for the schematic in order to place, outside the coil, a variable capacitor to fix the malfunction. Now, I don't have the schematic, does anyone have it? Will this solution work? Or should I simply buy a new eagle eye? Any help will be appreciated.
