  • Shoe-Detector!

Because the feet standing or walking almost on some ground and are apart from the metal-objects somebody carries around (like cellphone, key-chain, belt, money, glasses etc.) this would the best solution - as example while trekking or walking on the beach.

What is needed of course are shoes with thick soles like Buffalos or such stuff for having enough room for coils, electronic and accu-pack.

Would be much fun to walk around with such "magic 7 metal boots". Especially for kids.

But I would install iron-off discrimination as default, 'cause otherwise the shoe would beep far too often.

Imagine how many precious coins or rings you miss by walking over, just because your MD is at home?! Just think how many thousand miles or km you walk around in life - not knowing what's below your toes!

btw. such a shoe detector would have always near ground contact - perhaps just 2,5cm or 1inch between coil and surface! This could bring alot, even if the detection range is limited because of the limited coil size - especially if you have just small feet!

If women can make treasure by attracting guys with high-heels, why man shouldn't wear treasure-hunting boots? If they're some kind of water-proof you even could search in shallow rivers with them.

Imagine how cool it would be to hear a good signal and finding out that you're standing directly over a valuable silver-coin ! ! !

If the chances in finding valuable stuff is low, simply raise them about 100x times with an: "always by your side" detector!

Just where from I have such genious ideas?
Well..., I've been inspired by my "Walk On Wheels" boots. Those have little tires for pulling out so you can drive around like with Inline-Skates - but - if you like to walk they fit easy into the sole, which is about 7cm thick.

So don't even think about to tell me my idea is absurd. It was a gift to you, MD-experimenting guys, and if you have some skill you easily can built such shoes.

You also can get a patent for this idea and find a company that produces them - I'm shure MANY people would buy them! Especially because the usage is so simple:

Put the shoes on, switch the inbuilt MD on and just stop walking and start digging if the signal is REALLY good.

    Sucessful hunting!

Your idea are stollen as all your ideas. You first read or see something on web (usually here on Geotech) then after a while you get the "genious idea".

      You're too late!
These have been available for some time, and have already been discussed here on Geotech in the past. ->

At the end good promotion for Hammacher Schlemmer (!) Metal Detecting Sandals.

But even we speek about shoes detector idea was discussed at Creativity Pool years ago:

I'm not talking about sandals, but without help of this forum (didn't want to read the stupid and lying comments of WM6 until this day), searching for Mini-Detector I found them too - here:

          http://www.hardwaresphere.com/wp-con...or-sandals.jpg

I doubt those sandals work really good. At least the shoe-coils need to have Ace Sniper Level (4'' / 10cm diameter, but shaped eliptical)!

Sure, you are talking about purple Cinderella shoes.

Waiting for your next genious idea.

Carls SMT HH works well as a "shoe" detector as well . Just wind a flat spiral coil of the right shape and inductance and drop it in your shoe. You must remove the eylets and any other metal from your shoes first! The detector is very tolerant of the coil flexing. (yes.. I tried it)

I think that this may be attempt to break the treasure hunters code of ethics though.. Why else "hide" what we are trying to do?

                    Great cartoon:

The Treasure Boys - Sand Surfin' USA

Searching for some bikini-beau's for diggin' holes with their - ehm - detectors.

If an oval spiral antenna per feet works it would be the best solution. Not just only one feet, because this would reduce the success-chances to the half.

Does a double wire spiral antenna has the ability for discrimination?

                      Patten instead sandals

Can someone help me to translate in English the following two Bulgarian expressions:
"Вампири таласъми танцуват по налъми" and "Когато цъфнат налъмите".
Can they have a stake in this project?

Not! I have not inserted emoticons!
This is a serious design to avoid two drawbacks of sandal metal detector:
                            1. Modulation of AIR signal due to coil deformation and
                            2. Modulation of GND signal due change of coil height.
Both sentences (translated by you exactly) mean that it is impossible to avoid the main drawback of shoe detector - productivity. Even to split sensing head in both shoes, as shown in cartoon, it is impossiple to cover so fast search area as a conventional metal detector.
Qiaozhi, explan me, please, how you make so exact translation!

I used the ImTranslator add-on for Firefox in Ubuntu Linux, but apparently (and I've never tried this) you can also use Microsoft Internet Explorer -> http://imtranslator.com/
