          Hi,
I make my upper and lower shafts from Fibreglass tubing from Excel Composites and Minelab components much cheaper than comercial picture below of one for SD/GP detectors.
          Regards, Ian.

I wrote a tutorial for how to build a straight shaft

I documented my straight shaft build with parts list when I was building one for my Surf Pi 1.2 kit. Hope someone finds the ideas in it useful!

I bought two used crouches in mint condition for less than US$15, and only thing I need to replace is a metal segment near the coil. You can't beat that.

                        I did the Crutches blagg.

I cut the crutch and reassembled as in photo with the step in it, I used aluminium solder to braze with gas lamp.

The sponge grip is cut to length scooter grip from Halfords

I used a stiff flex graphite golf shaft epoxied to cut down crutch.. I whipped some kevlar thread on the outside to freshen the response. Arc over the ground is 7ft dia.

                        It is very light.

The Box with an IDX inside has a belt clip from a tape measure + longer flying lead - like a goldmaxx power.
