Hi im have a bounty hunter TR 1000 D but know very little i just want to have fun with my 10yr old and maybe do some real hunting to can you tell me something about this unit and for 27 bucks did i do good for a first machine thank you all happy hunting

The TR1000D was last made around 1978 and retailed for $229, so $27 is pretty good. It's a basic TR-discriminator, not VLF, so it will work fairly well in mild soil. Expect it to pull coins up to 4-6" deep. It will make a decent first detector that any 10-yr-old will enjoy.
