Update.
Still need help if poss please.
Sometimes the on/off switch doesn't seem to fire the machine up.
When the tuning button is held in, in either disc mode,you can set threshold. But on releasing the retune button,the threshold goes loud everytime. And stays loud until you push in the retune button again. But on release,it goes loud straight away.
You cant set the threshold when all metal mode is selected,as the threshold goes goes loud and stays there. Even when the retune button is held in.

With the coil connected,the thresold is irratic.Almost pulses. But when unplugged,the threshold is clean and stable. So maybe it points to the coil.
Would be interested in anyone selling one in good working order. Maybe worth trying.
