Hep me! Hep me! I just bought this and I'm having problems. I'm a nearly lifelong owner of a 5000D series 2 so I know how its supposed to act. When tuning the 6000D in GEB norm or max, I set the threshold with the button held, but when releasing, the tone dies off. On the bench in GEB norm or max, if i detune with the button then approach the coil with a target, it will sound but if i stop, the tone will die-off within a second or two. Move the target closer, it will sound again, but quickly die-off. Kind of like chasing it away. In GEB disc it works great except for constantly detuning to pinpoint. I sure would appreciate the help on this!!

I just bought this
my suggestion - do not surrender the temptation to buy oldie one thinking one will working so good as new fresh one. I see forums related to Compass detectors, to vintage detectors etc. and everybody there is hotty toasting another to buy legendary. I have a trouble with XLT coil cable that is more modern than these legendary oldies. think before... if you did buy oldest dude so be ready to fix all these dude problems - coil cable exchange, coil retuning, repair schematic etc. do not hope Mr. Monte or another guru will give you the schematic and explore all your problems in the forums you are meeting up of!

Unfortunately this was a long-distance transaction and the seller was confident the detector was working okay -- unfortunately, the seller only and always used it in GEB Disc mode -- which of course works great. I'm just hoping for a direction if someone has experienced this before. I swapped the coil from my 5000D and problem persists. I have the schematic on hand and really do appreciate any help you could offer.
