  • Desperately need help with Tejon!

    Hi all!
Just purchased a used Tejon all in good order accept for the fact that there is no threshold tone at all when turning the knob from min to max????
Have tried everything, instuctions say to put in all metal...tried that and nothing? Have tried pulling trigger in and adjusting and still nothing?
The machine works as normal, when a coin passes over coil it picks it up at good depth as it should but just cant get a "hum" from the threshold knob as you should be able to?
Please help if anyone has any knowledge or surgestions about this!
    Many thanks

I have never had the opportunity to see a Tejon or the schematic for it but I would say start by using an ohmmeter to check your trigger switch and the wiring to it.

Check the wiring to your threshold pot and make sure the pot changes resistance as you turn it.

Try not to stress anything mechanically as you make these checks to help eliminate the off chance that you would temporarily 'unbreak' something. You want it to stay broken until you find it.

If this didn't work THEN start moving things.

      Thanks for your advice!
i have just tried all of you surgestions but nothing? all seems to be working????
      This is frustrating
I am not sending it off for repair as i have been quoted "approx" £48 + parts & post and i just know it would come to about £80 so im not giving a penny away as im know its an easy repair...well it is when prob has been located.
Im normaly not too bad at fault finding but am stumped, could it be a pcb component?
      Many thanks

You say it works well for detection. How well? What is the practical limitation of no threshold hum?

Probably a schematic is needed to really guess what the problem is and offer test advice.

Of course if you sell it cheap enough, someone here might buy and draw the circuit -- although it is a very new machine, maybe not kosher.

I hope you get help, it is a nice machine.

SB, Tejon schematic is similar to Troy X5 shadow. some people write that. Mrand has shared it... but what you will do having the info if your level in electronics is zero? Mrand does his school Home Work, but anyone does not wish to go in the school... if you do not wish to make your Home Work you always will only a booby... I am wishing to offend nobody!

Most likely problem is that one of the pot wires has come loose or has a bad solder joint.

                      That's good to know.

Anyway, it's looks over my head at this point, so I'm no use here.

                      Regards,
