I never pass up a chance to copy a good idea. This one came from watching one of dfbowers videos of an TGSL air test.
The 1x3 inch board with holes spaced 1 inch apart is free to move up and down by moving the wood dowel to another hole. This lets the height of the test coins be adjusted from about 5 to 25 inches. This will cover any detector that I am likely to build.
The whole thing is clamped to the table top.
The motor is 12 volts DC from a junk printer. I am driving it with a variable power supply. Most anything will do since the current drain is about 100 ma at the speed I want for testing. I may mount an LM317 between the angle brackets with a nice speed control and on/off switch.
The coins are super glued to a thin stick which is fastened to an old radio knob at the center. One stick has U.S. quarters on it and the other with nickels. It is also very easy to change the height while it is running.
This is my first attempt at posting a new thread so I hope everything turns out ok. I have not been able to figure out how to embed comments between the pictures yet. I also tried posting a video clip of it running but was not able.
thanks for looking
Jerry
