It seems that the list of excuses for the OKM devices not performing are long and extensive ; batteries not charged enough, soil conditions not right, a metal bit acts as a decoy, obscured by surface trash, not enough different repeatable scan views from different directions, ground faults get in the way, not interpreting the complex squiggles right. I haven't seen one post that convinces me of proof of performance. Testimonials aren't proof. Aggressive reps that insult your intelligence are trying to put you on the back foot to compensate for a product that doesn't work.

Remember dowsing doesn't work. Look up wikipedia. There is NO evidence.
A company that comes up with such phrases as "...Bio-Energy of the operator's body..." is likely to be non-evidence based 100%.

I suggest that instead of buying OKM people just pray for buried treasure. This divination won't work either but it will be a lot cheaper.

I understand your point regarding the pricing of any OKM device. To some the prices are too high for such devices. I have personally bought two devices from OKM, an I-160 and my favourite exp4000. I no longer have the I-160 but love the exp4000. Between them I have spent a touch under $40,000 Australian dollars with OKM and have no regrets at all. To some that's a lot of money, to others it's not much.
I don't throw money around without extensive due diligence being done. If your budget (or any others) is a concern when purchasing an OKM device, then get a few friends together and split the cost.
I'm happy with the prices we have on the complete range, they reflect the thousands of man hours and tens of thousands of dollars that have gone into the field testing and ongoing research and development to bring to the market the best device.

I already located few tunnels from 5 to 8 meters depth. Software that came with it is poor, so once logged data were analyzed with different method.
About "isolating minerals to just detect for gold" i am not sure.
It's been known that magnetometers are sensitive on earth magnetic field changes and disturbations, therefore those devices are used to measure, monitor and logg such changes. It is question what caused such disturbations and changes in earth magnetic field. If changes are constant and covering larger area - most likely are caused by presence of some huge "anomaly" like cave, tunnel..... etc..
Smallest momentary changes are quite another story.
I am really not sure about accuracy in mineral locating and recognizing.
OKM software do generates some "nice" pictures all the time. But those are only presentations of earth magnetic field changes and nothing more.
Would be very interesting if you explain here how can you distinguish between salts and minerals on one side and gold ore (for example) on the other side? Only ferromagnetic materials can affect earth magnetic field , so i don't see how nonmagnetic materials can be located with such method as magnetometry??

The magnetometer, which is a unit of the OKM Funny. I'd rather just call it a square meter. Nothing to do with archaeological magnetometers. even basic things are not in it. The detector is easily magnetized and does not include any automatic compensation. The archaeological magnetometer base to the north-south vector can be found. The Ministry has still not indicating device. So if the same area several times after another fur, different sides. You will always get different results. I repaired several years the Ministry of Education units in Europe. I know almost all the errors. In the second year, I started to transform the system usable. I started that threw the original detector. Got a real calibrated and geo magnetometer. And for this I did a driver circuit. So old and can be used in the detector is a professional. The hardware also has been converted, because the batteries are depleted quickly. The internal control panel can I heat stabilizers. Since I have used the desert to Egypt and could not stand the heat. Good thing I brought a real GPR radar is there. The OKM can not be a credible system measurements. The OKM program is designed to be more. Some of these failed to correct, when you hack the program. Many things I found confusing things in the program. I do not want to talk about these, but it was nice of the OKM company. So, if you use any OKM system I know to convert, use, and I also serviced. The convert also dealing with one year warranty. I was more than 10 archaeological expedition to Egypt. There is plenty of experience in practical use.

Hi tim williams the runabout is a usa product and good detector of okm device but you detect by how detector for tunnel?Do that is a long rang system (LRL)? depth of 80 feet is a medium depth for Archeology. Please tell me you detect by which detector and view your detector site.

Archaeology is not the mean depth of 80 meters. The archeology up to reveal a few meters. I, too, I use only a maximum of 4-5 meters. 10 to 20 cm as layers to get down. So very many times, even the two meters.

You obviously have some gripe with OKM over their products, and there is no problem with you expressing your views here in the Geotech Forums.

BUT ... please do not keep spamming the forums with numerous duplicate posts and (in particular) offering cracked versions of OKM's software for sale. I have just spent several minutes removing these posts.

If you are truly offering an "upgrade" to the OKM software, then place one post in either the Advertising or Buy-Sell-Trade forum. Multiple [duplicate] posts scattered throughout the other forums will be removed.

never seen em used on the UK TIME TEAM archeological programe. they use a geofizz machine that is the size of a large pram for checking ground targets and then they are not that deep ,foundations and stuff like that .
thats the TV prog to use it and get free ads
