  • Red Baron VLF/SPD Power points?

Hello does any one have a Red Baron VLF/SPD with the two battery holders 12 volts each.In schematic form or willing to take some pics of the points, where the power from the batteries join to originally.Since I have one that somebody decided to connect both power packs to the same spot,at the volume control on and off switch. And that's not the way ,because since you need to feed the audio from A pack and the circuit from B pack given 12 volts to each .Have an idea where they should be connected, but want to make sure by looking at one that has the two 12 volt battery holders.Viewing where they get connected would be great. Thanks to any one willing to undo the control box and having a look take pics or tell me or has a written diagram of the components

Red Baron 7 need power pics

Hello this is an example of what I need of the inside of a Red Baron 7 .To determine the power points from the two battery packs 12 volts each. This pic was posted by Gold dredger to help with a Garrett Ads Deepseeker.

      RED BARON 7 POWER POINTS

Hello there is a lot of views over 200 for this post but no replies so it seems there are not many older Bounty Hunter Red Baron models around with the original twin battery holders 12 volts each that someone could help with pics.So maybe I can help someone with pics of mine,of how I think the power points connect to.There are six(8 pins) LM358N OP-Amplifier and three(14 pins) MP1496P Balance Modulator I.C'S and one metal round (8pins) CA3140 OP-Amplifier.There are 18 transistors one being a Darlington and 11 diodes 2 are zener ones. This pics are with wiring from the battery holders.First battery holder- one positive to the (off) side of the switch follow by the original Red wire at the (on) side of the switch and negative to the neutral ground in the board.Second battery holder one negative to the (off) side of the switch follow by the original purple wire on the (on) side of the switch and positive to the neutral ground in the board where the negative of the First battery holder connects in the board. This is how the old Bounty Hunter 840 Discriminator model has the original power points connected with two nine volt batteries. This is what someone can do with an original R.B 7 with the original power leads and wiring.Mine is a most probably the right way, since they are similar with two power sources one for audio and one for the circuit but it would be nice to see the original. Thanks

          Bounty Hunter 7 Power Points

Hello Randell thanks for the reply,if you have the single board as above and can do some pics to verify the wiring, can you specify what battery holders you have. They run on 12 volt each times two.Never use nine volt batteries as the circuit is not meant for it.That's how they burn out, because the power omp-LM358N GETS HOT until it burns. If you do have the single circuit,is it working properly, are you selling tell us more about it.Cheers Conan

I will check which board it is when I open it up.
I intent to use it....... on the Sunny Coast, to make some money.............
It has two battery packs, they were separate and the batteries were badly corroded and the boxes are falling apart.
The unit was going a few years ago.................
Got two heads and the manual.
i intent to go the electronics shop in maroochydore, and see if they have any battery boxes, that fit .I've seen them before....
But I see I'll have to get the wiring and polarity right...... I can use a soldering iron....... I think I can work out the batteries, I'll study your posts......

                  RED BARON SOLVED

                  Hello to all
I forgot to put the end of this problem to maybe help others
Since I started this thread and put the solution on another thread
Solution was after getting the right power connections
The culprits where a number of them
Starting from the I.C's no good and replaced one MC1496P and one LM358N ,Also the volume pot gave infinite resistance, replace and contacts on the dual on and off switch one of them was not working properly due to poor contact and last one small 500 ohm trim pot had a leg broken.(IT WAS ONE OF THOSE CASES THAT YOU CAN'T BLAME OTHERS TO GIVE UP) Here are the wiring points of power for the three board model R.B-7 and the single board later model R.B-7 that I had the problem with. Also showing the original power points from someones un-touched circuit board. So after a lot of patience the problem is solved and since then I have fixed a couple more with easier solutions.
