Can any one explain the difference in the Whites TDI pro coils Looking at buying one from the USA but comes with a dual field coil where the Australian version comes with ths single field coil. Would the dual field work in Australia or is it all marketing.

Probably it is only about the law of supply and demand.
Both of coils works on all continnets.

Dual field is better for very small objects.
Mono coil has better sensitivity at normal objects ....
Maybe at Australia the White's to interesting more for the sensitivity at normal objects. You see.... at Australia there is the Minelab

It is my understanding that one of the things checked when testing the TDI in OZ was whether a dual field coil worked as well as a basic mono and it was determined the basic mono would ground balance better, especially in the really bad ground. That is what determined making the TDI for OZ with regulator mono coils and not the dual field.

In other words, Whites elected to provide the coil that worked best in all locations.

Would the dual field work over there? I suspect it would in many areas but in other locations, it simply wouldn't ground balance nearly as well as a mono coil.

Actually, when testing here in the US, there are a few locations where a plain mono will ground balance a little better than the DF coil. The difference isn't dramatic but is noticeable to the experienced user.

So, will a DF coil work in OZ? Yep, it will work but there will be places where a plain mono would be smoother to operate with.
