Hi guys, new to the forum here. Thanks in advance for any and all help, as it is all appreciated.
I have a 77 or 78 Garrett 'pushbutton' deep seeker Master Hunter VLF/TR. There was some corrosion inside on the component side of the mainboard, as well as a capacitor that has leaked a little. Also, 4 or 5 diodes have rust on each end of the leads, and a couple of them aren't identifiable at the moment. I have tried to get a schematic from Garrett, but they haven't responded to my emails as of yet.
Everything I can find about this detector is nothing but rave reviews of how well it worked, and how much people missed them if they got rid of them. Even a few posts about some people pulling them out of mothballs to use again after so many years.
My grandfather bought this detector in or after the year I was born (May 77), and he never spent a lot of money on anything. That man would make a dollar scream he was so tight. I just want to get this working again not only for my newfound love of detecting, but also for the sentimental value that it holds for me.
Being a late 70's PCB, the soldering is going to be extremely easy, I just have to be able to adequately identify these parts.
I don't know if the ADS deepseeker and this slightly earlier model are the same, or if they are only slightly different. I saw a photo of the mainboard of an ADS, and it looked almost exactly the same, but in the realm of electronics (in my experience), you can never count on that.
Cheers, fellas, and thank you again for any and all help that you might be to the cause.
