I am curious about the operation of the Minelab Eureka Gold metal detector, and I would like to know the following;
Has anyone performed actual tests, air tests or otherwise to determine what kind of range difference if any there was given a consistent target and using the 3 different frequency settings, 6.4Khz, 20Khz and 60Khz?
Also, am I safe to assume that the coil is a standard type of "double D" coil in as much as there is only one TX and one RX coil in that housing? Specifically what I am wondering about has to do with the frequency change, when one changes say from the 6.4Khz to the 20Khz frequency, only the capacitance in the tuned circuit would change, thereby creating the desired resonant frequency with the fixed coil? I hope I worded that correctly!
Anyway, if someone would please shed some light on this system for me? I would greatly appreciate it.
Lastly, what are your thoughts as to the Minelab Eureka Gold being an all around "do it all" VLF detector? Yes, I know that there is always a trade off, Keep in mind that I am speaking in general terms in regard to the validity of this machine.
Thank you!
