  • Completed Surf PI with many pictures!

Here is a longboard pi that I have been working on for the past several months, it is water tight, the coil box and phone are all tinker made. The rod is white's from the factory. I was able to use angle aluminum and putty to make the water tight box detatchable from the rod. The cable is coax for ham radio. Performance is pretty good. though I am 3 hours from a beach, I was able to find some deep nails in a farm field.
    THANKS FOR CHECKING THIS OUT!

The shell of the coil is from HAY's electronics, they are mentioned in the back of Carl's HH PI article. The coil is wound 24 guage magnet wire it is wrapped with plastic spiral wrap and is sheilded by common wire window screen and then wrapped again with spiral plastic wrap. the rest of the form is filled with hot glue. the two shells are glued together with marine glue and a yellow for plastic spray paint was used all over.

The potentiometers are from Digikey I purchases nuts for them that seal out water. I also used Black automotive gasket sealant. I believe that any potentiometer can be made waterproof with this stuff because you can use petrolium jelly on the shaft (no jokes) and the gasket sealant wont stick to it but it turns into a hard rubber.
