Bounty Hunter Problem

Okay, need the help of the tech Gurus.....I have a Bounty Hunter TR 550 D and a Red Baron.....both have the dreaded continuous sound symptom. Does anyone know what causes this? The coils check good (no shorts)......I am thinking it is a shorted transister or something. Any hints? Thanks for the help.

Guess I'll start pulling parts and checking them. If it ends up being the same component in both, I will post my findings.
