  • EMI/RFI Filter

    Hi.
Doest anyone know if this filter can work or not, to eliminate false signals on metal detectors, cause by EMI or RFI?

    Regards

I doubt you would notice even the slightest difference with one of these so-called filters.
For a start, the "filter" is on the outside of the screened cable. Secondly, metal detector circuits are designed to eliminate the range of signals that this is supposed to block anyway. I suspect it is even less effective that one of those magnetic gadgets you can clamp around your water pipes to remove impurities.

If you're feeling adventurous, why not buy one and let us know the results.

Nelson, please search WEB for "ferrite bead". I'm using such ferrite substance as specimen for BAD GROUND.

Read publications by "Henry W. Ott" on EMI and RFI suppressing.
See for example the last 4 pages of this paper:

Well i know this is used on ac plugs to reduce inteference from 60 or 50 hz, but i m not shure about a metal detector. So next weekend i will try to find some ferites to experimente to see if is posible to eliminate ac interference, normally the one that comes on parks from ac lines.

          Hi Mikebg

Well has i said on my previus post i think it will be better
to do some experiments to see what happends.
On hams rigs, we use between the antena and the radio, passband filters, but this is a conductive connection, not inductive has show on ebay divice.
          Thanks
          Regards

              Hi carlrod49

Good day too from Santiago, Chile.
About your question, no, i haven“t try it jet, but i think that a ferrite that is used on camputers cables must be try to see what happends. I think that if you have available some ferrites, you must go for try and error.

              Best regards

              Nelson

                They work for some RFI.

Down here on the border we have the Aero Stats blasting Back scatter radar over the whole place.

I had problems with a detector because of it.

Put a clamp on Ferrite filter and it went away.

Under the High tension power lines 370,000 volts there worthless.

Mind you, you get shocked just touching your truck due to inducted voltage there.

There designed for RF issues , not 50 , 60 hz from power supplies.
