  • And the result is a kind of funky siren when you swing a coil across a sea surface.

My whole idea is snuffing only the funky siren sound while keeping the sensitivity of the dry land.

The best of all, IGSL, as is, can already be set to notch out a variable band of phases, so there is no real disadvantage between these rigs.

IMHO excessive knobs are just confusing.
Don't know about Cobra, never had it; but Pantera is giving two tone response and tone ranges are affected&defined with position of Notch potentiometer.
That's most interesting part at it.
Now; nice trick would be to add third tone too, for Iron.
Pantera is working also very nice in All Metal mode.

      • It can be done, but I'm not that much into it. IGSL already has a third tone.

Besides, Cobra and Pantera have bad gain blocks with bad timing. If I ever touch them, I'd make some serious redo.

IMHO IGSL is a better platform for further development.

          I think so too.

          • OK, this is a preliminary ... thing. It is supposed to notch out a GEB signal that is used to produce tone, hence to quench the tone, when Disc channel that is aligned with wet salts passes through zero. This zero crossing detection is achieved by an absolute value circuit and a comparator. To make it play nice it is scaled using a Disc.Sens. voltage value, same as the rest of the comparators in the rig. This scaling is visible in a pink trace as an offset below zero.

Blue trace is a GEB signal without conditioning, and the green are the conditioned GEB as a consequence of various Disc.Sens. offsets.

            • Can anyone point out where I is the latest version of the Musketeer IGSL antenna and circuit board to the exact chasti.Zashtoto'm quite confused about the versions.

              • Because both versions of IGSL are built from PCB-s, and all PCB-s are made according to the schematics on page #11, just use those. When you know what you are doing, you can apply some of my mods. I highly recommend pin swap mod to correct the Fe channel performance.

                • Sorry but we do not understand. Send me a link to your version. Please send them to me with a card and schedule.

                  • My versions are just schematics that contain mods to the original Musketeer version. I am not using a custom PCB. The layout you may use is produced by Silverdog, and I am using a Petravka variant. The Silverdog version is in attachment, and you may need a Sprint layout viewer (free) to see it, http://www.abacom-online.de/uk/html/sprint-layout.html

The original and my moddded versions are also in the attachment. See the page #11 of this topic for coil details.

All my mods are applied on the original PCB, with only one problem on the way: the pin swap mod.

                      • I don't have the Petravka PCB layout file. Maybe ivconic does, but IMHO you are better off buying a ready made PCB from Petravka or Silverdog.
Check for Petravka PCB-s here: https://sites.google.com/site/petravka/ it is in Serbian

                        • Off the bat I can suggest a few mods. You can get rid of the 7809 regulator - instead just put a piece of wire between in and out connections (not ground). You may also consider placing the GEB trimmers as full grown potentiometers on the front. It will be useful for visiting more diverse terrains. You can apply my mod with disappearing LF351 with no consequences for any of the rig operation.

Make sure you apply the pin swap mod at both U4 and U7, otherwise a Fe block is not going to work well.
