  • I read that as:-

    Well done, congratulations.

But this should go to Ivconic, Qiaozhi and eventually to SilverDog, not to me.

I just "bullied" everyone a bit (more for my own personal interests really), but I do think that a lot more people here could be interested as well....we will see just how many order with Silverdog....

      Yes of course, ask him.

Last pcb i posted is the one i would suggest you to make. Nothing is perfect, always can be done much better. But for now i do not intend to change it. Maybe in winter i will consider improving audio stage. But even so, the present pcb will stay unchanged. So any eventual mod on audio will take place on another pcb, which will be added on existing one. I am not saying that am not satisfied with present audio - it is very good also, but i am thinking to add more tones at both blocks later. I am considering use of NE556 there... will see. But for now this present pcb is "final" as i am concerned. So if you want to make it - talk to Silverdog. I saw his pcbs, really good work!
      Dear Silverdog,

we await your decision on this subject! Can you give us an aproximate possible date for PCBs and PCBs + Kit? (assuming very rudely that you will be making them available!)

As I have said before, I personally would like a kit as complete as possible, also with the pots that are only connected to the PCB by wiring if possible as I see you have high quality Cermet (?) ones available on your website......

If the ISGL is half as good as I truly believe it is, I will be building another one for a good friend of mine before long!!
      Stay well.

Silverdog, do collect orders before you decide which version to make.
In case majority still wants to make last version and most of them can not find original Minelab coil - there is a way to make it!

Already known 255x137mm "D" form (for 27cm DD coil):
        - TX=1mH, 42 to 45 windings, wire 0.5 to 0.55mm
        - RX=14.7mH, 165 to 175 windings, wire 0.22 to 0.25mm

Resistance at IGSL is not issue, as it is at Musketeer (wont oscillate if TX is over 2.5ohms) - so do not worry about it.

Both "D" shaped coils are shielded with Faraday cage. Both cages are connected together to TX ground lead (in coil) .
Cable from coil to detector is double coaxial (as on original TS coils).
Rx leads are "hot" and "shield" - but that "shield" is not connected with main GND (shields) in coil housing.
Also RX "shield" is not connected on pcb gnd - it is connected just to inverting input of LM833.
Coils are nulled to have minimum possible residual voltage (measured on original TS 1000).

I am suggesting last IGSL version and Minelab coils (or copies) because that version is showing really better performances.

But also there are number of people who already made TGS/TGSL and suitable coil for it.
So those people can just make first IGSL version and use already made coil for TGS/TGSL.

So ... it is hard to predict numbers of which pcb would more likely to be wanted!
That's why is smarter to start some sort of voting and collect majority opinion.
        Cheers!

I hope someone builds and tries this "minelab" version coil for TGSL and tells us how it works!

        • Congratulations to Ivconic for such fantastic proyect, and also to silverdog, that allow us to save time on building pcb´s and components. Is nice to get a kit, so you just start to mount parts on an evening.
In my opinion about IGSL, i prefer a kit and i will be making my own coils, cause is much fun when you have the oportunity to experiment.

          Vere best to you guys.

          • I do believe that Ivconic has done just that (Please confirm or deny I.), then because of people like myself, he posted the details for a DIY coil.

            • ISGL VS TSGL VS ?

I applaud Ivconics and others D Bowers, Quiozi ETC, efforts. I have learned greatly from them. I built TGS, and TGSL, and got them working good , and they will search to nice depths. I can disc out foil, pulltabs, small aluminum, and steel. I am still digging up large steel, large aluminum, and steel bottlecaps. Will any homebrew VLF discriminate these junk targets? I'd like to start working on IGSL because I like the idea of different tones I.D. because it doesnt matter if it is dark out or bright sunlight! Has anybody yet built IGSL version2 and given it a good field testing? any thoughts? thanks for reading this.

One of the major benefit IGSL will offer to you is exactly good behavior on large irons!
You must make it to see exactly what do i mean.
                Go for it!

                • +1 to Ivconic!

With igsl you can definetaly hear differences between large iron and good stuff. Cant say that about tgsl Try it!

                    • IGSL.

Hello. I have seen many people wanting builds the IGSL. I've gone a little PCB and I have repositioned the brands of components and have reduced the size of the numbers. Silver Dog I think you can start to manufacture PCBs. Take a look at the placement of components. I think everything is fine. Greetings. Ivconic Thanks to all the effort and share this wonderful project with us.

                      • Final PCB version for ISGL - HOORAY!!!

                        Dear Ivconic,

I would guess that this is the absolute newest/latest version?

I will be asking SilverDog for when he can (if he wishes!) to make them available for sale, ok?

                        Many thanks again.

                        To all interested people here:-

we all here understand that with a new product that there may be minor changes of components or even layout of the PCB which may eventually entail a cut and change, this is normal and should be accepted by all concerned who wish to order what I would call a version 1 PCB. If anyone does not accept that, they should wait 6 months or so before ordering!

Do not try and "hack" (either online or off) at either Ivconic or Silverdog if that accidently happens. I for one would find that totally unacceptable personally.

                        regards

                        Andy

                        • IGSL PCB and Kit Production

                          Hi SilverDog,

can you give us any sort of time scale and pricing sometime please for the above?

(Assuming you are happy with the situation of course)

Don't rush anything on my account, but I am really interested.

                          Have a great day.

                          Regards

                          • Differences in latest ISGL PCB versions.

Further to my post above I have compared the two versions of the PCBs recently posted, the IGSL rev21.LAY from Ivconic and the igsl1.LAY from Edouado. They are not completely identical.

Edouardo's version (igsl1.LAY) has an extra pad aproximately in the middle of the board, connected to R29 from under U11 Pin 2. There are some minor artwork differences, but nothing to worry about as far as I could see, but others here should also take the time to make sure everything is 100% as well.

Edouardo has made the change to stop having the "zig-zag" wire connector between pin 2 and R29, electrically it appears to be identical.....

The way I look at it, either version could be made, but Ivconic and SilverDog should decide that, not me.....

                            Regards

                            Andy

                            • Iconic is the boss. What I have done is only a relocation of some components, nothing more. If Ivconic not agree with my small changes there is no problem. Nobody is forced to make this pcb. What I have tried to do was help a little. I have reviewed the pcb and I have not seen any error
