but i am not sure about its sensitivity. how deep can it search?

to search 10-12cm depth, how can i design the search coil?

is it just for ferrous or both ferrous and non ferrous metals?

You need very complicated source code in Depth language.

you should only be able to get short distance responses, it was originally for finding patches in auto body repairs. but build it and then tell us about it, I know it won't be the most powerful but I would be interested to know what you have to say about it. If I had a couple of unijunctions I would build it, simple enough.

The article states that one practical application may be looking for body filler in rusted automobiles. Maybe as a body scanner for weapons??

i will try to collect the components but it seems its hard to find ICM7556IPD from local supliers. in pdf document there is a note about not to use NE556N. is there any other IC for replacement this component.

You can use any other 556 CMOS type. Ask your supplier about CMOS version of IC 556. NE556 is TTL type.
