    Hello,

    I,m new on this forum.
    I life in Holland.
Can anyone explain what the VR1 potmeter does in a bounty hunter Fast Tracker.
    It is a 1K potmeter.
    What does it do ?.
And can i adjust it ?.
Does it effect the depth ?.
Sorry for the bad picture , but is it the blue potmeter.

    Sorry for my english.

I am shocked by your blur photo... by the mine way Anders Behring Breivik shooted too clear and due accurately in more hard light conditions.

      Fast Tracker

Well thanks , the focus on my camera is not so good.
So here is a picture from a BH Tracker 4 , with the same VR1 / 1K potmeter.
      What does it do ?.
How do I set it in the perfect position ?.

        A word to the wise:

If you don't know what it does, DON'T mess with it!

Chances are, you will make things worse, not better. That's the law of averages.

For all we know, that pot's adjustment may be very sensitive and if you get it out of adjustment you will never get it back without test equipment and a written procedure.

          Ok ,that,s clear.
So it will effect the whole detector ?.
It,s better to leave it in the mid position then.

          Thanks anyway.

More than likely it's the ground balance setting.
First note the current position of the pot so that you can set it back to its original position, then adjust it slowly in either direction while waving a small ferrite slug in front of the coil. There will be one position where the slug is rejected.

What i would do is remove the pot carefully, replace it with another external pot Ik ohms with wires soldered on the board. Do your experiments, then refit the original pot back in when finished.

                        Why?
It's a simple matter to adjust the ground balance using the existing preset. I've just done the same thing with a Fisher 1210-X that was in desperate need of some TLC.

Hi Qiaozhi, I meant to say to remove the pot, re-fit another only because the question was not sure what this pot does? well, if his not sure then by installing a external pot will give you a idea what the on-board pot does when you adjust it.

Better to be safe than making things worse if adjusted, then not being able to fine tune again to original setting.

kt315 loves "black humor" but now there's only "black" without the humor.
