ferrite for testing on the bench normally use the ground I am detecting on and pump the coil up and down. In the video set to the balance point normally have it slightly positive (sound slightly raises). Also sometimes adjust the ground balance to lessen false signals by hot or cold rocks.

                Sorry for my bad english.

The question is How many current (mA) need this circuit?

                regards

                • Measured with cheap meter and batteries at 11.1V
29 and 31ma for the two modes on my detector no LCD no target.
97ma with sound threshold turned up in PP mode

                      • Mohammed could not went through needle eye while you want split out the bronze from the gold.

my disc put dont work like you and your ferrite dont seem 5 cm ( it is too small)
buy thanks about your perfect help man
and i think you are 20-24 ( your age may means ) if you are 24 like me.
                              best wishes

and i try to fix my detector ,1- i will set again tomorrow for nulling coil ( near 1.5 volt without attachment and with attachment better near 1 volt )
1-1 - then turn SENS pot on max and find the best cap parallel to RX coil for best depth and stability around 25NF to 68Nf (how much frequency for RX coil should be have ??)
2-i try to reject ferrite 5 cm by GEB pot
                              3-reject iron by disc pot
and best wishes for you man
excuse for my English , i put it here again my video a

                              • The ferrite is not too important. Tried a few different types have an old AM antenna here and that works just the same. It is only for bench testing more important that it works with the ground.

As you see I have a broken piece as it does not work well if it is a ring shape. Rod is fine.

Had to add a 10K resistor to the ground pot as mine would balanced at one end of the pot travel.

Worth spending time to get working properly as it is a great detector.

Normally set the disc so a ring pull is just accepted. The detector is then quite on small iron and small foil allows all silver and gold to sound normally. larger iron gives a spitting sound (none clean beeb) You still have to dig aluminum and larger foil. If you turn disc up to much you loose gold.

The black coin in the video is a silver shilling I found on the beach with the IDX last week. Corroded and ground down to about half is original thickness.
