      • Hi everyone,

Yesterday i build a VDI board, but it don`t work. LCD dont give i sign.(yes i try contrast pot RT1)
        The are some measurments.
        MCP1703(U4) Pin3 5,02 V
        MCP602(U1) Pin8 0,77V, but i need 5V
        MCP602(U1) Pin3 and Pin5 2,48V
        X 4V
        PIC16F88 Pin14 0,46V, but i need 5V
        On LCD Pin2 are 0 V (need 5V)
Maybe someone has a idea wher is problem?

I`m sorry if borrowing some time with my foolishness, stupid beginners mistake.
I don`t undestand, that i need to connect all pins whear ^5V to 5V(MCP1703 pin3).

          • New day, new problems...
I finished my VDI, and its works(Achtung minen), BUT all metals are on the same value 35-45.(small ferrite, large metal, silver and cola can). I disconnect VDI PCB and notice, that distrimination dont work anymore. Before that all was ok.
            Have any experience or ideas?

            • put some close up images up of what you have done.

VDI units often show 45 if both inputs to are vdi getting the same signal. !! is there a chance your X and Y CHs are shorted together now. ?

Try remove your VDI and see if Det is good again. ?

                • I am building a board - and I see the Silverdog version and the refined version.
I see Layouts and Schematics. I etched a refined board version, but I only see U# codes.
Can I assume that the Lmc6484 is directly interchangeable with a Lf347 (which I have access to) ?
I do not have access to Lmc6484 chips.
I see both of these chips in the Schematics.

                  Thanks for any help,
                  J.

                  • Yes they are interchangeable without adjustments

Ive seen them work well with both chips

I am attempting to use it with Arduino, from page 24

                        • Where are your photos of you r board you made

                          Is the -8v label correct?

If used on idx the rails are +4 and -4

                          • I have another question.

Can I use 0.30 (I have a large spool 1kg of this) and 0.50mm wire,
                            - instead of 0.15 and 0.70mm ?

I know the Turns and Inductance need to be recalculated.
But, does this seem workable ?

                            Thanks again !
                            - J.

                            • most experimenters use 0.2 for both for simplicty.

wth your wire i would make tx and rx from 0.3mm

You are likely to to run out of space using the 0.7mm and make it bulky not that suitable.

                              • Doubling the 0.5 will give you approximately the same cross section as 0.7 and the same Q factor. It is a bad idea to ruin a Q factor of a Tx coil.
