Is it workable to use the BlueMax Concentric Coil, instead of the BlueMax D Coil ?

Yes all bluemax are interchangeable and work properly on the IDX except for the "Blue Max 256"

I use a 6B old Classic coil on my home made IDX. Found that the ground balance was out of range so added just enough to fetch it in range. Can't remeber the value but it is in this tread somewhere. The Disc is slightly out and at its lowest setting will still reject small iron.
It is very usable stable coil
Never tried a BlueMax 256 but as its also used on 6B machines I would expect the same result.

Does anybody have the calculations and Coils and Inductance and Caps - for creating a 6in or 7in DD Coil ?
of calculators will help you design a new one.
This will show you the cap for tuning; http://www.siversima.com/rf-calculat...FfB3cAodsAgAzg
Download this coil calculator to get the number of windings needed for your target inductance; http://www.geotech1.com/forums/showt...oil-Calculator

I want to use the TX as an Oval with a Folded RX Coil as a Figure-8 inside it,
or the RX as a skinny Loop with the TX as a Folded Figure-8 over the RX Coil.
This results with a ZERO Voltage base input on the Receive Loop, to the Circuitry.
With, a fluctuation input of Pos or Neg (around ZERO V) depending upon the Target.
So, the OpAmp Input needs no Adjustable/Floating offset to Compare to.
Should this make the MD easier/less to Tune ... no drift - yes ?

Does anyone have the gerbers for the idx pro board? i.e. a 1:1 full sized drawing file (or even a pdf) that can be used to print out the silk screen and the pcb traces? I've prowled through pages 92 to 111 of this forum and haven't found one. With Gerbers it would be easy to get these boards made, and with a 1:1 printable image, a laser transfer would work.
It does seem to me that the phase discrimination could be done with a microprocessor as long as the signals were conditioned into square wave. A phase detector is pretty strightforward with a good timing unit on a decent micro.
