Have you tried the detector without the two tones.

I intended to make the two tones board but after using the machine without decided it was not worth the effort.

With quality headphones you can run the detector with the detector almost on zero. Iron is a sharp beep and everything else is more rounded nice tone. (Also you can improve the sound you can turn the threshold down but you loose the ability to use all metal mode)

Turning the threshold right up you gain a little in depth in discrimination mode. I found it not worthwhile as the last bit is very broken and sounds a lot like iron so in the field you probably not dig it.

Also by turning the threshold down I can use the detector on wet sand but it is not ideal.

There are at least three different two tone modes some requiring different components to be removed and with different connections. Information is buried in this tread. Which one are you doing?? all seem to have a negative affect on the detector performance on wet grass ???

    • I finished my idx coil, but i don't know how to wire alu shield. Is the same wiring like with TGSL? Naked wire to both end of coil?

No you can't do that as the TX does not use the common ground.

Keep the shield separate from the RX and TX wires and connect to the PCB.

I did not have much success using alu as a shield found it was still noisy when bumped into the ground. Also if you used a metal box to house the PCB you can end up with ground loops

        • Why I have continuous square sound from 400 hz from U7? With all other iCs removed I still have that sound. Please for help.

yes, be cause U7 is a square generator. used for modulation of DC slowly shifting level so you could be able to HEAR THE sound in speaker.

But is it OK to hear that sound on the speaker or maybe transistor q3 is broken? And other voltages are not ok, please tell me where what to measure

                    • Display looks good. Well done.

Was a bit surprised with such low numbers on the small bullet. Large one like 50 cal quite often have an iron core but not seen small ones except armour piercing which here in the UK are illegal to own

I need a help with this detector
These are the signs that I have in the tx output and Rx input.

                        • Hello chirolinNull your detector - null the coils. generator for tuning - use oscillograph to meassure frequency and amplitudecorrect oscillogram at botom of image

Take it the TX is 5 volts per division so looks like 16 volts = perfect

RX should only be a few mV. Depending on what type of coil you are using will depend what you do next..

Factory concentric you probably got the TX connections the wrong way round

Homemade DD you will need to adjust the overlap to give the smallest output

                            • Hello friends
                              I make the detector.
Obviously I have a mistake and I can not guess where the bad.
I wont bother again to see if I can help.
These are the images that I can provide.
manufactured according to the coil on the forum.
                              Thank you.
