  • I normally aim for less than 200 mv Rx out with a scope

Don't get to hung up on it though. Aim for the smallest then check that a small piece of ferrite is rejected in all metal mode somewhere near the middle of the ground balance Pot. If not you might have to move slightly from minimum null to get the correct ground balance.

Yes, rx - and tx -, but for idx is much better to shield coil's with graphite paint or spray and connect to -rx.

On the normal IDX -Tx isn't ground but -V so would stop the Tx from working

I found better results in wet grass if the shield is only connected at the PCB end. Original Classic schematics show it this way

Depending how you mount your board and if its in a metal case or plastic and or your connector have a metal shell or plastic as to whether its better to connect the metal shell of the connector to ground or not

                • Better ton`t connect both shields down in the head but connect each coil shield with (-) / (end) of the coil and by shielding of the cable connect to the ground on the PCB board. Оtherwise the depth will reduce by half.

                  • Is there a SMT Version of the IDX PRO board?

And whats the difference between the silverdog board and the one here at the beginning of the thread?
Is there a partslist too, i just have the partslist for the silverdog board.

                        • If somebody makes PCBs from the SMD Version, then i need a board.

First version has the frequency shift trimmer/pot.
On the Silverdog version, 2 diode's 1n4148 are removed, according to author that version has little better discrimination. Also, first version had BD139 audio transistor, now is MPSA13/BC517.
On Silver version, phase trimmer is removed and mounted 2K7 fixed resistor.
C32 capacitor removed, that's changes what i remember from the past of thread.
General: No major changes, all version's work's very good, i personaly tried them all, deep machine, average disc.
                            Regards

                            • Hello All,

                              Nice project IDX-PRO

I have been built this MD, before i shield Coil TX and RX, result is good,
Coin nickle can detect upto 25cm clear sound, nulling at pin 6 56mV peak-to-peak, TX 17V peak to peak, i use Hantek USB Scope 20Mhz
i have some problem, after my coil shield whit alumunium foil, problem is i can't nulling coil, at pin 6 2V peak to peak, and poor detect

                              How to solve this problem?
                              Thank

                              Wahyu.
