I have made both DD and concentric coils for the IDX. I much prefer the concentric. Better pinpointing. Less digging iron when using low discrimination.

I did build a 12" DD and only ever used it on dry sandy beaches.

    • hello koala I have only done DD 50 to 48 cm 1 euro, but I am researching on omega coil. The omega coil has other same names .. known as 4B or needle point .. according lei far exceeds the concentric and DD in discriminating and locating the object, one time I made one and I am very heavy by the resin I achieved 35 cm one euro, in range I think that it achieves little by ignoring inductance data and coil size ..
I leave the web for you to see a little about what I speak

Did see that some time ago.

Looking at the videos I don't think there is anything to be gained by the omega or super DD here in the UK. Target masking is by far the limiting factor on our fields. Your mileage might be different if you detect heavily mineralized ground.

I would like to hear how others got on with either the omega or super DD

        • I want to ask what type of coil is the best for mineral coil. Type CC or DD

Smaller DD, from 15 to 25 cm.

            • Thank you for the answer I will try, whether the DD coil is winding, I will try the coil diameter of 25cm

              • has only one made a PCB that would connect to the idx by connectors like a shield with the VID display and Pots on the shield board, Rather then having a bundle of wires connecting everything.

                  • Question, IDX Pro red board, With my Scope in XY, Channel 1 probe on X and Channel probe 2 on Y, GB goes up and down, would that not be 0, Should it not be at the -95 - +95 left to right ? by switching the probes it does switch the GB alone the 95 Plain. With a Nickel it is being detected in the negatives not the positive, look at the little sketch please and tell me what you think. Seems like everything is all bunched up together besides Nickels and ferrous metals. I do not know if it is they way I have my Oscope set up or if there is a problem with the detector, the scope is Plugged right in to the detector with out a MCP602

                              • yup. almost. just add Zener diode on outputs of the comparators.

typical mistake that you do not want fix and notice.
