  • Hello

    Look here "https://www.geotech1.com/forums/showthread.php?26060-Analog-Target-Indicator-for-VLF"

The meter I used is taken form an old multimeter. The back panel was made with laser printer, it's 1mm aluminium panel taken from an old TV .
I think that almost any kind of meter should be good for this project, the important thing is that it has to be a low power consuming needle ~ 1mA.

    regards

      • Good morning! Collected by Whites two-tone on CD4024. In my understanding, two-tone is the sounding of ferrous metals, for example, in a low tone, and non-ferrous metals - in a high tone. With this prefix, only the tone of the sound changes, all targets sound the same. What is the point in this revision .Yes, plus everything when switching there are wheezing, interference. Disappointed .....

You will need to supply more information than that.

                    • Hello

Between the IDX Pro and the King Cobra which one they think is better, for example which one has greater ability to discriminate and which one has greater depth.

                      • GMT King Cobra has additional NOTCH filters to discriminate. also two tones in the mode.

It was made by Gold Mountain Technologies Texas as were a number of others that fell by the wayside. Its a very powerful machine to hunt with for jewelry the notch feature can really nail the targets down to a tight band. Its a hard to find machine and this one almost didn't make it to me. Thanks to some US members putting some pressure on, the guy finally sent the machine. I believe they stopped production in the early 90s.

Gold Mountain King Cobra - high/low tone help

I've just bought a Gold Mountain King Cobra, good working order. I'm very confused about high and low tone - when they sound off, what positions to set knobs to change when they sound off, whether switching off the notch circuit changes how the tones behave.

Could a King Cobra guru please set out clearly (for my small brain) exactly how the tones work.

                        Thanks very much

OK The dual-tone audio target ID provides a distinct tone for each target depending on where the target is detected in relation to the setting of the Notch Adjustment knob.
Targets that fall above the setting on the Disc. adjustment knob and below the setting on the notch adjustment knob produce a low pitch tone, while targets that fall above the setting on the Notch Adjustment knob produce a high pitch tone.
Yes you could work without the notch feature on. The notch feature will give you the ability to reject very specific targets.
The dual tone still works with the notch feature off.
When using the notch feature it must be higher than the Disc. setting. Dan

the Tesoro Royal Sabre, Golden Sabre Plus, Pantera and Golden Sabre II.
That is, the Notch level setting will determine the "break point" of the Low/High audio tone.
The Primary Discriminate control must be set LOWER than the Notch Disc. control.
Targets above the Discriminate setting will respond. Those above the Disc. level, but below the "notch break" setting, will produce a Low Tone audio. Those above the Notch Disc. setting will produce the High Tone audio.
You do NOT need to use the Accept/Reject function.for the dual-tone audio to work.

I had a King Cobra 10-12 years ago, kept it for a couple of years and, as with many detectors I've had, I've always regretted I let it go. The King Cobra is basically the same as a Tesoro Golden Sabre/Sabre II, same "120" degree discrimination, notch and notch accept/reject features. It wasn't a depth demon, but contrary to what Tom said it had good depth and was darn good for coin hunting. In my mild ground it would get dimes at 6 inches or so and quarters two inches deeper, basically the same depth as the Golden ?Max I currently have gets. After I set the King Cobra ground balance for my ground with the internal trim pot it was actually deeper in disc mode than the GMT 1650 I still have, but it wasn't close to the 1650 in all metal mode or for hunting in iron laden sites.

I have both a GMT1650 and a King Cobra and I can tell you they use the exact same circuit board with only a few minor changes. Yes, they are both very similar to the Tesoro Silver Sabre/Golden Sabre line. It's obvious the GMTs are copies with very few changes made.

                        Hey Joe,..............

You know I love Tesoro machines, and the Bandido & Bandido II are "Excellent" machines, but.......
The Bandido's are 10Khz machines and the GMT machines are 15Khz machines.
The circuits may be very similar, but comparing the two is not all that fair.
The GMT machines are much better at ignoring iron and the masking effects of a steel bolt laying against a coin or ring.
It's true I have not owned any of the GMT machines but I have spent many hours studying all about them.
When users take a 1/2" or 5/8" steel bolt, wire it to a dime, bury it deep, and still can pick up a strong signal of the dime that is really something to write home about.

you are right...the King cobra had the Notch Feature while the 1650 and Gold Scorpion (GMT) did Not....

mpsa14 works well for me. Some supposed to be equivalents give me lower volume
