What depth are we talking about? You can get 1 meter in the air and it's not difficult. Only this meter-high air sensitivity will give absolutely nothing, on real soil and in the soil layer, even worse.

I thought that some component such as a capacitor could change its capacity as the temperature changed. I tried several times to replace capacitors, but I didn't get any results. You will need to troubleshoot with an oscope and a heat gun. Start with the TX, make sure it is not collapsing at high temp. Then look at the target strengths of the X, R, & G channels at cool and hot. And so on.

Check the head.
On a sunny day put it on the ground and make a shadow on it, a piece of cardboard 10 cm above the coil, turn on the machine and check the efficiency, remove the cardboard, wait 15 minutes and check again.
