I am beginner in this and electronic so I made yours idx pro and I dont know how to adjust coil and set it to work good.
I make rx to operate on 6,5khz but I dont know what values to set potentiometers, phase, oscilloscope settings and other thinks. I assume that you know what I must do to set this coil. Can you tell me what to do or show me post where I can see?

hi konan,
what do you want to know? perhaps you take a look in the manual.....have you build a coil? if yes, you have to nulling the coil. if you made a DD you have to play with the overlapping of the rx and tx coil....you have to measure AC 0,0-0,4 mV on ic1 pin 3......VR3 can be replaced with a 1kohm resistent.
I made my first test as follows:
ground to the middle
disc to 0
sens to the end
press pp
than set threshold so, that you can hear a quiet beep.....
pp in disc position
now you can detect and play with the disc

Yes I made DD coil but dont know how to nulling coil and set phase and what else I must to set and measure to make it well.

Konan,here you will find all necessary information on the DD coils. It is very well explained. Read it and so will you learn as a coil cancels and phase as measured with the oscilloscope.

I had recently good experiance with my IDX. I had my Rx coil wired correctly - prior to Nulling. - PP was fine, all good.



Having fine tuned the null and potted - I never re-checked it. It must mave flipped the other way during nulling.

Anyway my PP was toilet and I got loads of Iron beeps and a double for targets.

Flipped the other way and the Iron is controllable exept for big iron.


I thought my Threshold did nothing - but it does.

I added a series resistor in with my GEB pot to get more range.


Got a small Edward II hammered penny from about 1300AD on sunday heavily clipped coin.

A spark plug from 1919 designed for Model T in Birmingham UK (Apollo brand)

USAF 1/2" B52 cannon round cut in half by plough - I had to empty the cordite! _ It was all in my pocket.

George 3rd Penny 1806 , buttons, lead shot. I will post pic of my scrappy finds with the IDX over the last 4 weeks.

For the cancellation of the coil connects the oscilloscope on pin 6 of U1 (NE5534).

Hi all,

i would like to build the IDX Pro with the original Whites Black Max 950 Coil and this kind of Display from Lugatek (if it possible):

so when i use this VDI from lugatek, i don´t need the VDI Kit from silverdogs page. Only the IDX PCB Kit, right?

and does anyone know how to connect this VDI with the IDX Pro Kit?

By the way, is the IDX Pro Kit a one or two ton model? i believe 2 ton model are need a extra Board. But i can´t find it on silverdogs homepage...

Does anyone know where i can buy this Coil socket to connect the Black Max pro directly to IDX Pro ?
