In the past i made 44 copies of White's Classic III !!!
Tried several different coils with it!
Best performed coil was exactly this one - 10.5" Quciksilver for CZ series...
...
Air depths on test were over 160cm !!!! Tough to believe.. but true!
Coins at 50, 60 ..65cm in air!
Also great depths in real soil!
I visited many terrains with such setup. Lot of deep (and i mean DEEEP) finds with it!
But... there is one lack; not so immune on hotrocks!
So.. it is usable and lunatic deep on medium soils, also not bad on middle mineralized soils..
But it is very unstable on soils with hotrocks..
Besides that, Disc is very descent, GB also..
Recovery speed..descent. Not so good at masking.. but also not so bad too.
..
So , considering all this, i am sure this coil will present pretty good choice for IDX-PRO+VDI project here.
RX cap can be critical to tune up closely.
Generally it is close to 0.033 (33nF). But if you put just 33nF that will not do.
Better put 22nF + .... in parallel , close to 33nF..
Be patient and give it chance, try to tune it as closest as possible.
Once tuned - hell of detector !
Deepest from all hand made presented here on Geotech forums.. no competition at all!
Ivconic you are right , maybe the IDX is the best project ever built on this forum when using the Fisher coil . I was wondering if anyone built and tested the VDI circuit . How accurate is it .
When using VDI , does it decrease sensitivity . Will the VDI numbers change because possible phase difference between Whites and Fisher search coils ?
What do the three buttons on the VDI board do, and can I get rid of that silly "Achtung Minen" message at the start? I guess looking though the code for the hex values of the ASCII would find it and allow me to replace it.
The three buttons uses for some service adjustments, not for regular use.
The modes are:
"THRESHOLD" - Sensitivity ;
"SPEED" - The speed of the reaction, depends of the analog filters characteristics ;
"DELAY" - The time delay of the VDI indication ;
"RAW VIEW" - if ON, indicates all input events, otherwise indicates only useful VDI's.
and can I get rid of that silly "Achtung Minen" message at the start?
Unfortunately You can not to do that, because it is some kind of security label.
