  • Thanks for the help. Did you make a silverdog Eduardo kit - does yours perform well!

Do you know if the Pin Pointer will work on a DD (Similar to the new Cscope )

I disagree with the -8V there is no mechanism to get -8Volts.

I think at this time, that we get +8 for plus rail 0Volts for negative rail and +4Volts for Earth/0V equivalent.

Bit confusing this one. Is there a schematic for the kit pcb.

I know it must work but you always need some detail to get it right.

Is the supplied 3n3 a problem should I unsolder and buy correct value?

Should I remove VR3 trimmer and put pot to front panel for GEB?

    • Hi, D3 is the wrong way in your layout picture.

The copper around the pcb edge sits at +4V wrt battery 0v this is correct I think.

      v is +8v
      gnd is +4v
      -v is 0v

      • no, I've made my own circuit board with Eduardos layout.
but it is still not finished .... must replace a few parts and even a new coil winding.
someone has written, I think it was eduardo that VR3 can be adjusted to 1kohm ..... remains on the motherboard.
Perhaps you read again by all treat. there are a lot of questions answered.

        greetings marc

The position of the D3 is correct. The original was a Zener diode and I replaced by a 1N4148 and so the poraridad Amongst the reverse. You do not worry about that. The detector is working properly. I'll post here again complete with all files updated data.

            • Hello, fantastic project. Just one question. How is the procedure of ground balancing on the field? I see there is no all metal/discr. switch, soe what I will have to do, pressing the pin-point and then pull up and down the coil or something else?

              Regards.

Yes it's wery good detector, ground balancing is wery important for propertly working.
All you need is ferite road, so for start put your GB potentiometer in the middle position, and start swinging ferite road 10cm abowe the coil, and in the same time move your GB pot left or right, when you heard only cracking, your whites is propertly ground balanced,
and don't reject ferite road complitly you could afect sensivity on gold,
its enough to heard just cracking,
Ofcourse outdore you can fine adjust GB.
                Regards

                • Thank You for your answer. I know how to adjust ground balance with ferrite or ground in tesoro -when I want to change GB I have to switch to All metal. Soe I see that in IDX all these procedure is in discrimination mode and not pumping ferrite just swinging, ok. I`m starting to collect all parts.

                  • You don't be disappointed it's good detector.
You will be suprised with air test it can detect coin up to 60cm
and in ground up to 35 maby 40 with some original coil.
                    It's not bad at all.
                    Regards

If you look carefully, you will notice that the PCB is the same as SilverDog that I published yesterday. The diodes are placed in the same direction. Look at it carefully.

                          • Sorry, my point was Schatnaters post 720 has a loyout image.

                            This image has D3 reversed.

Or maybe I dont understand - I think maybe the latter

                              • Thanks I see now - was a zener. now not. So its reversed on silk screen.

Anyone got objective depth info for europe soil on - say 20mm bronze coin ?
