Is there any reason why this would not work at 8kHz?

    I have some 32kHz txo's and /2 /2 - Any advantage to xtal controlled ?

        • I just finished construction of my IDX-PRO using silverdog pcb. The Disc mode is working great. The pinpoint mode is not. It seemed to retune as soon as I go over an object. Looking at the schematic, it appears that U2D pin 10 is connected to the wrong place. It is connected after a capacitively coupled stage according to the md4u schematic. There's no way to get a proper non-motion pinpoint there. The Classic 2/3 schematic shows it connected one stage earlier where the signal is still closer to DC. Probably a very slow changing DC. Am I missing something?

Just checked mine. It is a slow autotune..

            • Looking at the circuit again I realize that the CD4016 switch is open during pinpoint so it wouldn't matter where it was connected. Should C16 be there? What if I short around it? Probably not that simple but I might try it.

              • After checking the manual to the Classid ID/IDX, it appears that this model has a motion-based all metal pinpoint. I had no idea.

                • Now I'm more confused. Here is an excert from the Lost Treasures review of the IDX-PRO.

The trigger switch has three positions. In the normal search position (center) the detector is set to operate in the discrimination mode. Pulling and holding the trigger forward will switch the IDX Pro to an All-Metal, non-motion-pinpointing mode. Releasing the switch automatically returns it to the position. The switch can also be pushed forward which places the IDX Pro in the All-Metal, non-motion search mode.

It doesn't make sense, it never talks about the third position, back towards the human user....

Did you think of electric screening?

It's possible to rewrite VDI program in order for him to announce the substance of the found metal? This the arduino project makes it.

                            • coil DD 20 cm for idx or concentric and values ?

HELLO, now that I finished my tgsl with 2 tones, I launched into the idx pro with 2 tones to see the difference. I wonder if I can use my coil tgsl for testing? or if we must rebuild a coil are what I can do a DD and what would be the values for a number of turns DC 20 cm?
what is the optimal coil, concentric or DD?
