I see two things that are apparent to me.

    A) The PP ch is on in normal use..

I recall a few people posting on here saying that they had hoped for more depth from their IDX kit.

Looking at the schematic there are 3 Rx channels -

    DISC
    GEB
    PP

In normal Disc use, all three rx chs are in use. ( In PP the Disc and Geb ch are isolated with a cosmos switch)

The PP ch works by having a response down to dc - to catch responses at no motion.

    As the PP ch is:-
1)Broadband, it will let more noise though.
2)DC image from product detector will also be present.

A potential solution would be to add a 4u7 cap with a switch in parallel with it ( open switch - normal disc useage, closed - PP )

    B) With VR4 up high - for more sens, the IDX begins to loose ability to reject iron...

This is because the PP ch (which is ON during normal use) isnt gated from the Disc gating but the GEB gate.

Dont know what to do here.. ?

          • ok, therefore a button tappet would suit?

                a pushbutton, yes

                • Often a - pin point function mode is enabled using a Push to make, push button switch.

My unit has a regular single pole switch - so you dont have to hold the button in.

The purpose of the PP - (if this is what you were asking) - is to enable a mode which requires No Motion of the searchhead to locate target.

This is very useful when a target is located during normal search - switch to PP mode and hover over taget to locate exactly where to dig ( best with concentric coils)
