Has someone tried 9V PP3 battery? Working time?

Normal run time is quoted in the specs of the Classsic III (IDX without display) as between 40-60 hours depending on which site you look at (will depend on batteries used) If you have a display it will be slightly less. Also different make or chemistry of battery will alter the run times.



Just some figures plucked from the internet but PP3 had 1/4 of the run time verses 8 AA batteries

Alkaline PP3 565 mah and Zinc carbon PP3 400 mah

Alkaline AA 2600mah Zinc carbon AA 1700 mah

So without display you should get about 10 hours

Would like to hear from anyone who has tried there detector on PP3 batteries to see if the numbers add up.

All I can say is "not real long". (How's that for being technical!). Maybe 10 hours without VDI.
I run two in series and is the only way I have done it. I just don't like the extra battery weight.

Nice pictures Don. Did you build the enclosure or re-purpose it from something else?

If it is from scratch could you give some construction details on building the enclosure? Maybe on it's own thread since it is off subject.

The push button is for Pin pointer mode .--- If you look close ate the layout image it says PP for pin pointer.

Hey Jerry. It's made from thermoformed plastic, heated and shaped. Same stuff I use for making coil enclosures.

Hi guys today I put a resistor in the kit which unfortunately was not there.
I bought the blue max 950 coil from the UK's white, next week is expected to arrive in the meantime I wanted to try to mount the plate garrett euro ace, gave him some signal, perhaps working on it would also work with this model.
