Hi, I just finished my idx pro, but first I had problems with hot masa 13. I solve it by removing speaker 1w, 8ohms. But now that s ok, but maybe I made mistake by trying it without searchcoil and maybe burn something. Now I have constant sound. When I remove ne5534 nothing change. When I remove coil I have sound in normal mode, when there is coil there is sound in two tones mode. Please for help

I have similiar problem like you, when i turn on md, there is no sound, pinpoint working and mpsa 13 being hot after 3 - 4 seconds. My speaker is 8 ohm 2w. Im using Silverdog version. Does anybody had those problems?

You have something wrong mpsa 13 should remain cold even with the 8 ohm speaker

Most likely a solder bridge or short. Possible an incorrect component placement

check the voltage pin 1 and 7 of U5 should be just under 3V

With earphones mpsa13 is cold, speaker from laptop 8ohms 1 wats is making problems or is getting burned. You need to try with bigger impedance speaker. But my problem is different. When I turn it on I have sound nonstop at 300 hz square with or without coil. Sound goes off only when I remove Ic7. When I remove all iCs and only Ic7 stays I still have that sound. PLEASE FOR HELP. can anybody post picture here from the last pcb without potentiometer to look for short contact.

Not a 100% sure I tested with 8 ohms but tried a few speakers that I had lying around pretty sure a 8 ohm will have been in at some time. Original I believe is a 32 ohm.

Be careful if you are using a metal case as the audio uses the - volts and not ground

Now I was looking for problem on my Idx and I found one mistake. At the place of the resistor of 100k. next to pp connector I connected pinpoint with what i provided 8v on pin 12 of 4066. So it still have same symptoms after recovering this mistake, but I have to replace 4066. There are big chances to be burned.

Koala, just a quick question: Does IDX need to have sound when is turned on? I have nothing, only when turn pinpoint. This happens with or without the coil.

Now i have sound, coil is working (i didn't yet maked idx coil, im using coil from tgsl), but i have pulse signals like when we move something over the coil or like digging target, now mpsa 13 is cold, but U4 going hot after 5 seconds. I have replaced U4 and 4066, no changes, stil the same. Here is my pcb. Does this diode near U3 need to be reversed? Im using this lay file.

Not important so much if 3n3 or 3n9, my problem was not in that section, i replaced U4 again and now is working. Not as expected, cause coil is from tgsl(for testing only). I don't have 0.7 wire for now.

set all you pot to min then turn on you idx if you get long beep idx pot rong turn, then turn back pot one by one you pot if you got one beep then touch mpsa13/ksp13 still hot or not
