  • Thank you Koala for your answer
Today I'll begin my venture into the art of coil building.

    Best regards

IDX Pro is a VLF detector

As the coil size increases there is a diminishing return for most size objects.

10" DD is about its sweet spot. Any larger and the depth increase is minimal on large objects and you start to loose sensitivity to smaller objects.

        • aha that mean when i get small coil i will get more sensitivity for a small object and with a big coil i will lose sensitivity for a small object but detect a big one and more depth lets say double coil 50 cm it can detect an object in a 2 meter but it will be a big object is this right or Im wrong thanks Koala for reply

Pic only driving VDI unit, it will work perfect without him.

              • thanks CDI for yr replay yes i thik that but i want to be more sure about this effect ok there is another question can idx pro detect metal over 1.8 cm with this coil or should i replace it with big one and thanks again

                • If u mean 50 cm coil, well there is several negative things about:
Extreme big coil is less imune to EMI.
Hard to pinpoint, u will dig wel before find center of target.
Think about weight of coil, this size coil cannot be less than 1 kg, maybe more, plus other detector machine, battery, etc... you need to be Hulk to swing that machine more than 2 hours.
Your question about 1.8 m buried target... hmm, hard to tell, which size of target, target material. Also, depending of soil type in your area.
Never maked big coil like that, so i'm not sure what to expect, u must try yourself.
I can tell u about 30x36 cm for my xp gmaxx 2:
It's very deep for object's bigger than 5 cm in diameter.
Good luck if u decide to make monster coil.

                  • 10 DD

Large coins. 30-35 cm in really good ground like dry sand with zero discrimination.

Most ground with enough discrimination to eliminate most iron and its nearer 25 cm

if you tune the Rx capacitor you can get 50 cm in air but it will not work in the real world.

yes PIC is only for the display. Detector works fine without the display.

Just tried a T2 and there is not a lot of difference in performance. T2 is more reliable at the edge of the detection depth. It will sound every swing where as both the IDX and Bandido I have built occasionally don't beep when at there edge then swing again and they will. Apart from that they are very similar in performance.

                    • Ok let say gold about one kilo romanian gold under at less 1.5m and sbaut coil realy it will be more than kilo i know that but in test and swing not more than ten minete becuse its not aloude in my country to have detectors as u say about 30*36its posable to detect 1kilo metal but in how mutch in the air let say thanks frinds

Just has the edge but not by much.

Depth wise very little in it. Just hits those iffy signals more consistently.
