  • I found this 2 tones mod board layout from an earlier post in this thread. It looks suspiciously like the board in the apparent 3-tones video I posted above.
Maybe I'll have a good read through the entire thread, or perhaps browse through the attachments list as well. There's plenty of info in this thread.

    • Do not make 2 tones - useless prefix. The device will look like a music box (((

        • thanks Dbanner. I added those schematics and links to my IDX files.

          • And finally, this schematic shows a 2-tone mod incorporated into the whole circuit.

              • Hello to everyone;

Ferrite erase should start in which numbers scala on the pots of while adjusting the Idx PRO grount balance pot?
Is there a video explanation about this?

How should I proceed for better depth in the concentric coil?

                • On this 2tone idx the two tone thing is incorporated in main board. Dont know what are these oT 1T 2T C1 C1. I hope someone will explain.
i have rebuilt the board but there is no tone (pots and coils not connected yet).
This project lacking proper build instructions in one document especially the coil building and board testing. Would be kind if specific document is available.

Everything is right there. Bc517 has two options pinout collector and emitter pins......

                        • I connected 7.80mH inductors on Tx and Rx for test purpose. Also connected point 1C with 2C and oT with 2T Now it is giving very crisp melodious tone if i press the PP button else everything is dead silent. Still can;t figure out the true connections between points oT and 1T and 2T

Does this mean a correct circuit and i should proceed with building the coil for this IDX?

                          • I built the IDX and it preformed brilliantly on the bench. And is really good on field with very few targets in them.

Here in the UK we are mainly looking for very thin coins. Not much thicker than thick paper. These are often cracked, cut in half or quarter. Put one of these on its edge in the ground. It will be almost undetectectable without turning the discrimination right down. Now you will pick up every forged nail that bent at 90, horseshoes and so on. Throw in the fact the pinpointer isn't true static means you can't eliminate targets by shape and size.

I didn't make the two tones mod. But even as a single tone, in quality headphones there's quite a lot of feedback. Sharpness, loudness and length can be learnt. Use to play a game of guess what the target is before its dug. For example deep large copper coins give a nice quite rounded tone.

Loved it sound and the youtube fetched some back nice memory's.

                              Let's examine this statement.

I assume your plan is to make a proper working unit. Correct?

Like it or not, a working unit requires the correct coil. No?

So sooner or later you are going to have to make the coil. No?

Might as well go ahead and make the coil. No?

Pinpoint tone is a good sign.

First time I ever heard of some one describing a pinpoint tone as being melodious.

Chu, you always make me smile.

                              Good luck.

                              • Dbanner I want to save the magnetic wire as markets and courier service are closed and may remain so for many months more. So far only managed success with one felezjoo out of two. Blew up my baracuda project few days ago while searching for tone. Tgsl, hammerhead on the bench.
